I thought ALL factory glass was "tinted" green. Are you saying that you could get non-green clear glass OR could order factory tinted soft-ray? (if so, then I am no longer confused).

Thank you.

Correct. Soft Ray (tinted) was the option, but usually always found on a/c trucks. My truck has clear glass but the pics I posted are what I plan to install.

Alright here's more of my wife's work and I took her to dinner after she finished, not only does she paint license plates she also can paint grills, she really did a fantastic job on the Chevrolet letters. Oh BTW the back bumper is gone! Mike (mcbassin) the first picture is for you. ;)

The grill looks absolutely 100% better. Once again your wife does great work. I hope you took her somewhere nice to eat and not Taco Bell.

Applebee's is good. I tend to agree on Taco bell but my kids love it. I don't they realize that their "hamburger meat" is not really meat.

This truck keeps getting better!
The grille looks sweet.
I'm glad it also has the correct black 69-70 headlight bezels.
I hate the stainless 71-72 bezels in the 69-70 trucks.
(Just the way I am,... ha.)
Can you have her touch up the '70-only "silver highlights" on the inner grille?
J/K

Keith,
The paint scheme is the only difference between the 69 and 70 correct? I thought for some reason the egg crate design is just a little different. I own both btw but they are faded so I never could see a noticible difference.
I hate the stainless headlamp bezels on 69-70 too. I'm getting old

Yes and no. Original '69 grilles were smooth eggcrate, like the 71-72s. The '70 grilles have raised areas where they are painted silver for a louvered effect. All the aftermarket I've seen are shaped like the '70, but painted like the '69. Black eyes all the way!

This is correct^^^.
I have an NOS '69 grille ordered from GM back in the mid-90's and it is painted just like a '69 grill,... (silver in the middle,... and black around the edges),... but it's actually a '70 grille with the raised edges.

Gringoloco's truck has the perfect example of a correct '70 inner grille paint scheme.

Sorry to continue to hijack, but notice the outers are different, too. I currently have an original (top pic), the other was a repop (bottom). You can tell where the black lines continue through the turn lamps to the headlights- on NOS/aftermarket, they stop just past the markers.

Now back to your awesome truck/thread :chevy:

Hey a couple of years ago I stopped and talked to you and Kevin. I didn't know you then but I remember Sancho, this was before the sancho label I believe. My question isdo you know if Kevin is gonna have a tilt for sale there again at that same low price as he had a couple of years ago?

mcbassin 01-04-2012 08:08 PM

Re: Patina, patina, patina.....70' swb

Thanks Gringo and Keith for straightening that out for me. I have owned my 70 for 26 years and didn't know the exact differences between the two.

Rene,
I agree with the statement above "you are the King"
what's next on the truck besides the rear bumper?

I'm guessing the the low price tilt sold that day, but I'm sure if he finds one in time he'll have rebuilt one for sale for a reasonable cost and with quality next to none.

Thanks, but I'm just a regular guy who puts his pants on one leg at a time and loves trucks like the next guy.;) I found some different brackets and should have the bumper on this weekend, speaking of bumpers Shawn lets have a up date. Also I think the 70' is going to get a CLR bath this weekend, will see how that comes out. :chevy:

I figured it prob sold that day, was asking a VERY reasonable price. Check out post #174, my bumper awaits for the install. Would have done it today at the shop but I am waiting for the license plate holder which should be on my front doorstep when I get home. I will install in the morning and post some pics right after I do.:metal:
