Nice gate and bed side. The cross member is looking nice too.

Thank you.

Here's the crossmember. As of now it weighs 42 lbs. 1/4" and fully boxed. This shall keep my dirtymax calm no matter what.

I was really hoping for it to be done by now but it will all be worth it. Got a heavy duty crossmember put in. Made all of 1/4" thick steel. I also bought a 14 bolt 11.5" rear out of an 8.1 and it is now installed, just needs painted. Now I'll have a huge u-joint with disc brakes. If anyone needs rebuilt 71 k20 axles I got em! All of the intercooler plumbing is on its way. The rear drive shaft should be finished soon as well. I also bought a fun daily since I have a 60 mile round trip for work each day.

Well the duramax finally runs now after new injectors. It now has an 8" lift as well. I bought a new trans cooler and i now need to order crossover steering.

Thanks! The LS is amazing, fun and reliable. It also averages around 21MPG.

Awesome on all accounts! Too bad you had to replace the injectors but at least it is running and you know they are new now.

I know its an old thread but hopefully you'll still get notifications. What radiator did you use? Motor mounts?intercooler?

A champion radiator, custom front crossmember, and a universal mishimoto intercooler. If I were to redo it all over again, I’d either go a custom cooling package or run the duramax frame to allow the duramax cooling package to fit. The duramax cooling package is too tall for a stock frame truck as there is not enough room between the frame and hood and/or hood latch.

So you had a radiator made to fit? Or bought one that kinda worked? Also what motor mounts? Adapter plates and old mounts? Duramax mounts?

I bought a radiator that is made for a 71 K20, just an aluminum one. If you’re running a manual you’d probably be fine but the Allison needs at least a 1/2” hose for the trans cooler running through water, which narrows you to only using a duramax rad. I have a double stacked air to fluid cooler with a fan and it barely keeps it cool enough just cruising. For mounts I used motor mount plates and had eyelets welded to it and it bolts to the custom crossmember using two bolts. So All custom pretty much

Sorry to hear its giving you issues. I wonder if a cummins radiator could be used they fit under a 69-72 hood

I see the words - for cruising - in your reply. That indicates that there may be some progress. How about an update? That's quite a rig you have built.

I believe a stock style radiator with a manual fan would be great. Mines does okay with electric fans but the trans gets warm.

Here is the unit. I’ve got about 8k miles on it since it’s been road ready.
