Re: 1968

Today I finished with both of the bed sides. A lot of sanding and bondo and more sanding and a little more bondo and more sanding. I got them looking real sweet. Then I sprayed some white primer on them untill my brother-in-law come back up. He will tell me if they are as sweet as I think they are I hope they are ready for K2 and the orange paint. I think they are but I will wait for him. You don't know how much I wanted to paint the orange on them.
Here I am sanding on them.

Guys I did do a lot of work on the bed sides. I went over them again with a pencil to mark any place where it might need some work. As you can see.

Tpday I started fine sanding the bed side with 320 grit. Untill I had to stop and just set down and think. Guys a lot is running thru my minds lately. A friend pass away yesterday. And my best friends wife had a mini stroke. So I have not been myself and just couldn't get in the mood working on my truck. So guys keep working and I will be back Maybe Wednesday with a fresh mind.

Well it is over. The funeral and my friend is coming home from the Hosiptal tomorrow I hope. Now I can get my head back in the build. Today I sanded some more on the drivers side rear fender. As you can see where I repaired it a few months ago.
Maybe tomorrow I will finish the fender. I hope to shoot some primer on it also.

Today I finshed the pass side rear fender. It came out real nice. I sanded the k2 primes that was shoot on it a few months ago. Then I shoot some more white primer and I am real satified with the results.

I would have shoot some orange on it if it wasn't for the love bugs here in Florida in September. I tried to shoot orange on the bed sides but now I have to re-do them. Love bugs are a real pain this time of year. If you guys are planning on a trip down here to Florida don't drive your truck. In September and May is a big no no. The love bugs will eat up up paint.

Yea that fender is done with no other work needed. I just can't paint it yet.

Re: 1968

Today I worked on the other fender (drivers side). It has a lot of work to do untill it is done. But it is coming alone just fine. I hope to shoot some primer on it also tomorrow. But first I need to cut the cross member holes so the exhaust pipes can go thru them. I have put that off long enough.

gdavis 09-21-2013 08:01 PM

Re: 1968

I put it off again. The cross member that is.
Why is it that when you make a plan someone always seen to change it? I sand blasted some parts today. I did not want to sand blast today. But what the hey. I did get to finish the drivers side rear fender. It had a little rusty holes in the inter lip of the wheel well. And a lot of pitting so I go it taking care of. Monday I am going to cut the cross member for the exhaust. I hope.

The only way a person could see the holes in the lip was to stick their head in the wheel well. But I knew they were there. So now they are not.

Re: 1968

Today is a good day to paint this month but only one thing. It is 100% humanity like man it is raining for the next two days. And the love bugs are laying low. So I will wait and do more work on the fender.

gdavis 09-24-2013 07:54 PM

Re: 1968

Today, I cut one side out for the exhaust on the cross member. It has been raining down here a lot. Maybe tomorrow I will do the other side and then I will post pictures.
There is so much moisture in the air. I could not even sand the fender. The sand paper gummed up when I tried.

Hey, George. it's been a while since I have been on here. Sorry for your troubles. I will pray for you and your friends. Your truck is looking really good. Those crossmember holes are a booger to cut. I heard there was lots of rain down there today. I think I might be in your neck of the woods around Oct. 30th.

Today I did nothing except for nursing a tooth. Going to the Dentist in the morning. I have put it off long enough. So untill Friday guys keep up the good work.

Re: 1968

well. I went to the Dentist and he put me on some amoxicillin for 7 days. It looks like I will have it removied then. So guys it might be a hit and miss with me for another week. But as long as I am not in too much pain I will do what I can on the old girl. It looks like I will not be entering patches in the Christmas parade this year. There is just too much work to be done on her. There is always another year and a another parade.
Thanks Brian for calling me today. Sorry I missed your call I was still at the Dentist.
