Slick, have you heard anything? Or is he waiting for the brake clean to seep out of the crack?

I went by last Friday and had a come to Jesus meeting with him. I told him not to touch it and I would be back next Friday (today) to pick it up. He didn't argue much........but he will when the certified letter gets to him with a court date on it. I have found another shop that is highly recommended. This morning I spoke with G&G Performance and they said to bring it by.

I'm sure you guys know, but don't ever weld around brake cleaner it can cause some serious health issues.

Sorry to hear about all the BS you are dealing with on the engine. Good luck with the new shop.

Sorry the guy didn't man up and do what he promised. Hope it gets done quickly by the other shop and you get your $$$ back...since you're going to court....don't forget $$$ for your time spent removing/replacing and extra trips to the shop (gas/time)

Sorry to hear it is having to go that way. You are doing it right by getting your truck first. I hope picking it up goes smoothly.

I've heard some awful horror stories about situations similar to yours where the cars were basically held hostage by the shop and had some seriously evil things done to them while there.

That is just plain scary that the military never even taught the welders that info and we had a tank of that same chemical in our shop for cleaning parts.

I'm amazed none of us are dead. We did the very same thing the article is talking about but we also water flushed the fuel tanks after chemical cleaning. That is probably all that saved us.

Man, sorry to see it had to go to this. The truck is awesome and needs to be on the road, not tied up in court. Good luck with the new shop.

Hey Slick sorry to hear the engine builder didnt come forward and fix what he should have. Also just a heads up take lots of pictures before hand if you can. even save all info you can about the engine builder, such as receipts to help you in court. been there done that.

Hope it gets done soon for you and not to much more of a headache for you.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Hey guys, thanks for the comments and keeping up with the saga. The well-wishes are appreciated very much too! My truck is still at Ronnie's shop, I just took the motor to the engine guy, so no worries on my truck. I showed up at the shop this evening with my brother and an engine hoist, to my surprise he has it on a engine stand and one of his guys putting it back together. He had taken the valve covers off, the damper, the oilpan, and the timing chain cover. Why he took it apart I have no idea. All he did is put some JB Weld on it and magnaflux the area, so I was told. They could not find any issues with it so he felt it was fixed. I don't know if I feel good about it, but I sure feel good that my engine is sitting in the shop beside my truck!!! I'll get some pics tomorrow of the mess they did.

Well, hate to hear 'bout the other guy, but glad you're finally getting it back soon! Yeah hope you get all your $$ back too! Can't wait to hear the good news of it back in and running!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

does anyone you know have a motor stand where you could hook it up and run it a bit and make sure it doesn't still leak?

Slick67 06-25-2011 08:46 PM

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Thanks Copper, hope it is back in soon. VA, I think we are going to try to crank it like you said, outta the truck first. I don't want to go through all of that hassle of reinstalling it just to find out there is still a leak. Excellent thinking bro.

3 Attachment(s)
Got another little update from today, SWAYBAR!! The rivets didn't fight me at all so apparently the truck really wanted that swaybar installed!! Went on in about 3 hours or so and looks great. Check out the custom made lowered front brackets!

I also put together Ronnie's new IFS front end for his 39 Chevy Master Deluxe, it looks great! We were just test fitting and making sure we had all the parts.

It felt great workin on the truck again. After not having the want or drive to do anything, getting my engine back was a great motivation.

Glad to hear you got the motivation to start working on that great truck again.

Setbacks can suck the life out of you in a hurry.

so when do you guys plan on dropping the motor back in?

testing it outside the truck is a good idea...dont want to go through all that crap again!

Thanks! I had at least 5 months worth of setbacks, but it is getting back on track, and fast!

It will be at least 3 weeks, since it still has to tested and painted. You are absolutely right, the engine will be tested outside the truck, I may have it dyno'ed just for sh*ts and giggles.

lol..i used to try to rush things about a year ago..then i just figured it wasnt worth it in the long run!

on a side note..do you do any photoshop renderings? ive been wanting to tinker around with a final look to get me some motivation..and to try to decide on a few minor trim pieces to see what looks best. i may have to head out to that shop near your place that sells c10 parts and see what they have. im just nervous about jacking up my credit cards before i leave lol

I really just do free-hand renderings, no computer software to do the other stuff. But when u get it done, I'll do a pic for ya. Don't worry about the money, you can't take it with ya when your gone!!! I understand though. The last year was tough for me too.
