Now that's cool! If you told me that was a factory cover, I'd believe you.

Well..I finally gave up and called in the dogs on the floormat...I just couldnt get it to lay flat..so I wound up cutting all the stitches out of the center section ..I can make it lay flat now....but I have a gap between the center piece and the pass side...if I move it over to make it overlap , then the gap moves to the driverside..
So I guess I'll be ordering floormat material and just making it myself...

So I moved on to another small job.....along with the radio install , I needed a antenna..didnt want it on the fender , or for that matter even visible..
So I mounted the antenna underneath the truck...
I got a 10ft antenna cable extension and a 26in long antenna that has a 56in cable on it...that gave me a cable, long enough, to run across the top of the windshield, across the top of the door, down the back of the cab and out the cab corner drain hole...all hidden behind the interior sheetmetal
Then I made a bracket to bolt to the under cab pinch weld...and I also made a gravel shield to keep flying rocks from beating the end of it up..

Killer job on the electrical! Especially for a guy with a hacked up hand! That cover is really nice, I may steal the idea, just hope I can make it look kind of as good as yours.

Anybody need any humidity?...ours has been running around mid 80s the last couple days...
Think the hurricanes the cause..
was really wanting to at least get my doors painted this week.was trying to final sand them, but I'm sweating so bad its unreal...about 2 swipes with the sandpaper and its wet and clogged...
Just been doing little 5min jobs and then back inside to cool down..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Yep, I've been outside the past 2 weekends building the accent roofs on the shop and I've been completely soaked each day from sweat, and it's really not even "hot" out.

I remember last august very clearly. I was building the shop walls with no shade last year. It was mid to high 90's, even some low 100s and hot as blazes out, but not super humid, every weekend, until the end of September.

I was just telling my parents this is the first August in the 21 years I've lived in the upstate of SC where I remember it being so green. I usually only mow my lawn maybe once in august, it's usually so dead and dry. This year, if I don't mow every 6/7 days the grass gets so thick it chokes my mower down. In the 11 years I've owned my house, I've never mowed my yard or had to weed eat anywhere near as much as I have this year.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Yeah, it does seem crazy...our temps are in the 80s, but so is the humidity...I'm getting tired of mowing...I have to do it about 3 times every 2 weeks..or like you, bog down the mower...its takes me nearly 3hrs to mow what I have, and that's running the zero turn wide open..
Wont be long and we'll be complaining about the cold...I just hope we have a good fall...last couple yrs all we've had is winter and summer..

Still piddling along on little stuff..trying to get the dome light working..I'm gonna add some underdash lights as well, and I want to add door switchs also..the old dome light didnt have a bulb in it so it took some searching to find out what would work..its a dual contact bulb, and I finally figured out a 1142 bulb would work..so i got a 1142 LED bulb for it..the old lens was all yellowed and brittle, and looked bad..over on the IH board I was informed that a 60-72 C10 used the same style light and lens, so I ordered a new C10 lens for it...looks so much better now..I may still try to make a duplicate of the orig IH one when I do the front turn lenses

Looks as if the hand injury will not be stopping you from sweating it out. That interior light looks a little too bright. HAHA!

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Injury was not as bad as they led me to believe in the er.. they bout had me convinced I'd need a hand transplant..haha..ortho dr said they overreacted..2 days after it happened is was running a pole saw...it never did really bother me..
The lights not nearly as bright as it looks in the pic..

That's great to hear!

But to be honest, I'd rather they give me the worst and the best works out, than they be overly optimistic and underestimate the severity.

Well Ithe floormat material i ordered finally came in..its a fair match to the other one..but doesnt seem as "tuff" as the one that didnt fit..
In 1st pic the is new on left.....old on right
I got it from the floormat company.. http://www.floormatcompany.com
I wish I had gone with a thicker version..maybe later..
I got it somewhat laid out and have good overlap...
Now to sew it..I have some black wax thread ordered but its delayed to..
This may do for shorterm... we'll see how durable it is..
I ordered enough to do under the seat as well...I'll put a layer of sound deadner under it...

I'm looking at the pics on my phone but it looks good to me . My Puter is doing an update so I'm having to look on the small screen .

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

I think it actually looks kinda cool overlapped. Have you thought about using big snap buttons? That might actually fit the era/look?

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Thanks flashed and Jesse.....
Jesse..I've only seen 1 truck with a original floor mat in it...it is one piece and has a IH pattern in it..
All the repos ive seen have the overlap...hadn't thought about buttons or snaps...
I tried the 3M77 on a couple scrap pieces of the new mat..it failed...I've got anothe coupler pieces glued with contact cement ...I'll check it in the morn...

I like the overlap too...

It looks really close to original. I understand wanting one piece, and I hope the contact cement works.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Why not get the tube of glue they offer at the bottom of the page the mat is on? it is $39 but at least you would be sure it would work.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

If you got the 2 gallon pail you could just pour it in, let it self level and put the mat down.

Both glue tests failed...3M77 and 3M2141 would neither hold the pieces..got a email sent to dealer for recommendations....sure dont need 2 gall..
