I think I am building a car vicariously through you! I keep seeing these cool things I want in "my" hot rod. How 'bout an 8.9 liter V12 LS engine!:

You wouldn't have to shorten the 6 cyl valve covers---I think that justifies it, huh?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

whell jaguar makes a v12 for years so they couldve used a (lucas) distributor from that
nowadays with all the electronics it isnt to hard to add a few more cylinders
bmw uses two 6 cylinder distributers one per bank of cilinders i think they do the same with the injection
i'm kindah wondering about the ignitionsequence of the 8 cylinder made 12 too , the story does say they weld up two cranks for it adding 4 to the 8 would make it run out of wack i believe ......... then again they could use V6 cranks and have two cylinders fire at the same time or 360 degree apart , doing it that way you could use a v6 ignition with double sparkplugs (cilinder 1 firing the workstroke while two is firing during the exauststroke)

been looking into sumtin like this myself (lets just say benchracing doesnt cost a lot exept time )
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=533613
i wanted the engines to sit inside the bed but running them the normal way around would make the setup to long to hook up to the rearaxle
my idea was to run a setup like that reversed in the bed of a pickup close to the cab with the transmission sticking into the cab driving a v drive or transferbox in front of the cab then a driveline going back between the engines to the rearaxle or both wishever my thought where at at the time , the radiators would find a place at there original spot behind the grille the fueltank would prolly be behind that or at the rear of the bed
i think it might make a good showmachine for mudbogging as most of the weight would be pretty centered the engines dont need to be special or realy powerfull as there both working , the expencive part would be the connection between the two engines and the trans , was thinking using gear camdrives sandwished between engineplates filled with engineoil like setup for that

next widened 1 1/2 inches and lifted 6 inches. It will have a false floor raised 6 inches to match the raise of the Tubs and then hinged for storage

well I ran out of welding wire last night so I decided to start my Step by Step Slosh Tubz install so here goes !

Step 1. Tape 2 pieces of poster board together
2. Lay the tubz down centered on the board
3. Trace the bottom shape onto the poster board
4. Cut out the bottom shape
5. I used the garage door, this works better if you have someone to hold it for you ! LOL, Place the cut out section on the back of the Tubz and trace out the arch of the Tubz

6. Cut out the arched piece, this is what you will use for your pattern, save the other pieces they are the patterns you need to make trim panels to go around the Tubz

7. Now tape the pattern onto the inner fender with the bottom contour following the bottom contour on the fender (this will make more sense when you are looking at it all apart)

8. Trace the top of the pattern onto the fender

9. The bottom edge needs a line marked following the edge of the squares where the nut clips go in, once again this will make sense when you are looking at it

10. Now use what ever cutting tool you prefer and cut it out , I like a 4 inch angle grinder with a cutting blade

11. Next you are ready to bolt in your Slosh Tubz !!

Note these Square body Slosh Tubz were designed around the 80-87 front clips, so there are going to be some modifications to make them work on the 73-79 clips, nothing major, just some of the bolt holes are in different locations so as soon as I get those done I will post those pics also !

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

looks good , i think the biggest problems with making tubs youreself from trailerfenders is making it fit the shape of the inside of the outer fender to prevent roaddebrees and stuff from collecting between the two parts

it might be an idea to run some channel rubber over the cut piece before installing the sloshtub
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/U-CHANNEL-RUB...bLir!~~_35.JPG
nice thing about that is that you could hide quite a gap with it and prevent some of the wet gunk comming intoo the space between the inner and outer fender to drip down the visible side inside the engine compartment
