I have a perfectly ruined aftermarket Holley metering block with a broken tap stuck in it sitting at the house right now:lol:

Once again proof that it dosent matter how big the shop is, it's what rolls out the door in the end that matters. Looking good !

such a pain. those tiny suckers are crazy and some of them have terrible minor diameter in relation to the major so they twist off in nothing flat.

this one will come out of my little garage, but the shop at work helps my little garage along quite a bit!

still deciding on what to do to the end. but, barring the final trim, this is what itll be. the wheel will always be sooty, bedside too im sure. such it is. i still dig the dual exit in front of the tire look. not to mention, really no other option.

I bet an elaborate and totally badass heat shield will ensue. Sick build Ryan! I've been working in China for a week and the updates here and there have helped me keep my sanity. A builder and a therapist. Who knew?!

You should have them exit THROUGH the side of the bed.... Add a polishes stainless steel plate to protect the paint. Easy to clean the soot too....

Thanks! Haha. I'll add that to the list of experience on my resume! How is China? Probably the best crab Rangoon ever!

I'm not actually worried about the heat. It has over two inches of clear space before the wood. The exhaust temp will be relatively cool by the time it gets to the kick up and there is a fair amount of air moving over it going down the road. Time will tell if I am wrong though.

I don't personally care for exhaust exiting through the body. It does look cool on some things, but not for this truck. I had a friend say that the other day while looking it over. I just don't like how it looks when I picture it in my head. If the world were perfect, or I was a better planner I would run a single out the back. As it is, I'm glad I don't have to run a stack. That would be embarrassing... Haha

Nice work as usual. Are you going to angle cut or keep it square? It's gonna look good either way. :metal: :metal:

right now i am leaning towards just making a square cut on each staggered so they both stick out the same amount. we'll see i guess. this is one of those things that changes in my head a lot.

Thanks! this has always been the 'original' thread. has all of the updates in real time. i post to a few others but sometimes they get behind and i skip over details through laziness... haha

so. i ordered this the other day.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psg5gl6xw6.jpg

had to bolt it in. in my defense, i measured this before i built stuff, so i knew the starter would fit. however, that was a long time before i made the fuel lines and had since spaced it off.

this is the oem position for the 2nd gen dodge flywheel housing.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...pspnyo8emp.jpg

in the truck

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...ps5xmxebhx.jpg

its crammed into the fuel lines and brake line. the clamp for the lines is toast.

the solution

mill some holes,

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psddhusxah.jpg

turn some bungs

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psov9gxptw.jpg

weld

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psvbukaiek.jpg

and the new position

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psgbo06uze.jpg

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psioem7l87.jpg

the return line will need one additional offset. but nothing else will be affected negatively. it tucks the starter motor nicely up and out of the way. i may need to gently persuade the dipstick tube but i haven't checked that.

I like the line clamps too. I'm pretty jealous that you get to use your shop for personal use. I work in a machine shop inside a fab shop and can't do that. It's like being a diabetic cake baker.

I may have made some "test pieces" on the water jet...

Re: 72 k20 project

I do a lot of it on the bosses generosity. Having the knowledge and know how but not being able to apply it for yourself would be a bit of a pain. I think my boss values the fact that I can operate everything at the shop with productive capacity, but since I don't always do it, off the clock practice is good for the shop too. Either way I'm lucky I get to play with the toys. Word about the ol water cooler is, a big five axis milling center is on its way to our corner of the world. We'll be the only machine that isn't black in four hundred miles with the capacity it has. I don't hold any hopes of getting the keys to that play house, but I can design and have the shop cut it. This might make life hard... Haha. Now that I think of it, it should be able to cut wheels...
