got the last exhaust mount made for the tailpipe section

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psvou8rn6f.jpg

the clutch is on the way, may as well look into this.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psv5wvtdfe.jpg

this has been on my list for a while, but these things are expensive and i kept finding other stuff to buy.

the dodge (3rd gen) hydros use a funny twist lock for the master cylinder. i made a bracket that needed this hole chopped in the firewall.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psn6uorka7.jpg

i plasma cut the shape into a square, and punched some holes in it. then i got home and realized i needed space for the twist lock. so i laid out and made the spacer piece with a holesaw and grinder out of 3/16"

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...pswoyrfyvu.jpg

since i was chopping through the stiffening rib on the firewall i made a backup bracket that helps support it and has nutserts in it

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psfzvnqww8.jpg

painted and installed

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psxlspyq99.jpg

hits the back of the bell housing fine even though its in the wrong truck and bolted to the wrong BH..

i got all angry on the cold pipe

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...pskc9eecdy.jpg

i had a plan, it could have worked. after looking at my available donut material left overs i decided to build another part twice.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...pshqtcc9je.jpg

whatever

gives me better angle of approach on all this stuff.

I need a filter. I need a boot. blah blah blah... haha i'll get to that, sometime.

for some reason saturday was the day for buying tires. all of the sudden i decided it was time.

i had waffled in my head between Cooper STTs and Toyo MTs. then i start talking to the tire dude at Co-op. he suggests these. Hercules Trail Diggers. nice redneck name. i take a look at one he had in stock. same carcass and casing as an STT, just rebranded with different tread. made in ohio. significant savings. I'll take two please. ill pick up another pair in a few weeks.

I like them. i never like the cheaper ones... haha

35-12.50/17

then the old aired up aired down thing. ill get wheels soon enough i hope.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...psycvz2wke.jpg

i think i have the rear a little high in this pic. it comes down an inch or so.

White steelies and chrome hub caps would go a long way on this truck.:uhmk:

NO CHROME! haha

as for wheels, i have been unable to locate a stock-ish looking wheel in a 17X9. i would run them if i could.

for now i am planning on soft 8s that will get blasted and PC'ed white, most likely.

What about wagon wheels?

Re: 72 k20 project

looking good Ryan! what is the little pipe wrapping around the bottom of the front finder? more progress on the bumper as well?

Re: 72 k20 project

You might call up wheel vintiques and see if they have some. If not I bet they can put some together with 17" outer rims and 8 lug centers. They have 17" 5 lug steelies listed in 7,8,9" wide so I don't see why they couldn't make some in 8 lug as well. I bet they'd start to sell a bunch of them too if they had them listed.

Good thing you don't want chrome because the stock caps are stainless... Lol

ryanroo 07-01-2015 11:11 PM

Re: 72 k20 project

i hopped on that idea. called them today. i dont remember the last time i felt like i was of such disinterest to a vendor. like it was painful to answer the question of "can you do a 17" can with an 8 lug center?" WV- "we dont make those." well, crucify me for asking. crimeny.

anyhow, it looks like itll still be the soft 8s, in white hopefully.

Re: 72 k20 project

Well that sucks! I wonder if a bunch of us called in and asked about them if they'd reconsider that decision...

It might not hurt to call around to some of the other wheel vendors also.

Re: 72 k20 project

Have you looked at rickson wheels? They specialize in 19.5 wheels but will make anything.

Re: 72 k20 project

did I miss where you welded the marman clamp flange on your compressor outlet? I need to do that to my HX40. did you make the flange or buy it?

ryanroo 07-02-2015 09:22 AM

Re: 72 k20 project

I may do that guys. I'll look up rickson today. Thanks for the suggestions!

Jeremy, it's in here somewhere. It was a while back. I bought 2 1/2" flange set that came half aluminum and half steel with the clamp. I think from treadstone performance. Trying to find a big one for these inlet of the hx55 now...

Anyhow, I can try to find some mote of pics this evening. Pretty strait forward but a little more die grinder than any sane person likes...Haha

Re: 72 k20 project

try Stockton wheel a friend of mine had them make a set of 8 lug 15's for his jeep. they say they will make what ever you want

ryanroo 07-02-2015 12:13 PM

Re: 72 k20 project

I'll see what they have to offer as well. In answer to your question, yes there is a tube up there for the bumper. Good eye!

Re: 72 k20 project

I had the same luck with Wheel Vintiques. I wasn't impressed at all. My vote is for you to use that fancy new machine at work, and build a couple of sets of stock appearing 17x9 or 10's that accept caps. Then paint them white. I'd buy a bare set. Haha

Re: 72 k20 project

Billet aluminum steelies? That would be dope...

Wouldn't you have to call those "Aluminies" or something like that? Lol
