Maybe you guys can help me figure out my original colors for my truck. And what does manual throttle mean?

GMC406 09-26-2009 11:21 PM

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

Im no help on the paint but I believe the throttle is possibly a "cruise control" of sorts? Knob on the dash that pulls out and locks in place? Seen things like that on bigger trucks, wich was mainly used to control engine speed for PTO drivin equipment maybe the smaller trucks had something similar. Thats my best guess anyway Im sure someone with more info can help. Love this thread just cause I love trucks that just dont look like one a couple blocks away. Unique is awesome.

Your truck was originaly olive green on top of cab, yellow down to the lower trim, and olive green on the bottom.

Manual throttle was just a knob on the dash that you could pull out to raise the rpm. Not really sure what they were ever used for though?? I have that option on my 71.

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

I think ill stick with the yellow and white. thanks for the info. how do i figure out what engine and tranny it had originally. has no mention on my 70 but my two 69s have it listed?

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

your truck was originally a 307/3 speed on the column. Your vin starts with "CE" The "E" means v-8, 307 was standard. Any other v-8 would have been an option and listed on your SPID sticker. Also, the 3 speed on the column would have been standard on your truck too. Any other tranny would have been an option an listed also. Hope this helps. Very rare color combo you have too!

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

Thanks for the help Joesjunk. the p/o done a good job on converting to auto. so i guess the tilt coluum is not factory. so whould it be a c/10? custom/10?
no emblems on the truck

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

Your truck would have been a C/10, it was a base model truck.

:chevy:

68BigBlock,

This looks like the color of your truck only not as shiny.

maybe this would be a good place to put up a pic of this '69 CST C20. I have never seen this color on a truck. I believe it is Turquoise Poly, but have been hard pressed to find proof. I do not have access to the SPID yet to prove it, but it looks like the turquoise poly and light green top.

I would love to get some more information from ANY member about this color!!!!

ANYBODY.....

Merry Christmas

Matt

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

I've seen every color mentioned so far but my 68 GMC Suburban has VERMILLION. It is a burnt dark reddish tint of orange metallic. I can not say I have ever seen it on another truck. Anyone?

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

our 1969 is code 512.ugly ass green.the other two 1970's are a special order blue but i mean like a lite blue tint white but it is blue.when I become computer savvy I will up load the pics.We had a 1970 chevrolet c-30 looong bed (9.6") special order for the new york bronx zoo that was a olive green metallic but no metallic in the paint.even behind the seat or behind the gauges no metallic paint just green paint.even under the cab, scrape away the grease.......no metallic.wierd.special order paint.

I don't know if vermillion is rare or not. Here is the spid on my 68, it is vermillion with a white top and red interior.

LOL. Thanks. Could have been. We lived over near Hulen but that was almost 20 years ago. It was my daily driver back then. I worked at Super Shops in River Oaks at the time. If it was more recent than that it was probably another dark yellow truck. I haven't really driver this truck much in the last 10 years. We moved to North East Dallas 15 years ago.

Not rare color, but rare color combo - medium blue and dark blue. Also, here is a few 2 tone olive trucks I've owned.

one thing that I noticed about the people who showed the bulid plates from the glove box door;all you guys have 5 or 6 numbers or letters pertaining to your bulid options. My 3 chevys only have a one number and two -three letters;example R99-fFACTORY 19.5 WHEEL OPTION and on my 1970 chevy it say;R90 FACTORY 18"whel option.and so on and the top right corner starts with536 and not with 3----- like every one elses.

The stainless moldings came from LMC, $100 for the set, jusr screw on in minutes
I assume you like? some on here don't, think they belong on a newer truck but I like them because you don't see many of them with it
