Morning Scott. Very nice build you and the boys have going. My son and I built a tube framed drag car (62 Chevy II) that started back when he was about 6 years old. He's now at OIT in KFalls (Junior), wow how time flies by. Good to start them early. Great times and memories. I have one of his projects sitting in the garage now waiting for him. I am working on my 71 C10. I am interested in where you got the motor mounts? If you ever need a hand let me know. I can pm you my cell. I am just north a few miles (just south of OC). Enjoy the times!

i think its called medium green or olive

scotts72heavyhalf 02-24-2012 12:08 AM

Re: Our new 69C10 project

Light olive metallic/white, its the stock color with clear coats. it will have the saddle interior, I am just trying to decide on the 69 or 72 door panel style. Any thoughts guys?

Re: Our new 69C10 project

i like the steel panels, they screw in instead of snap in, and you can still get the cool vinyl covers for em.

Wow its really looking great. I like the soundproofing! Especially the cheap labor. My sons idea of helping me is a plastic hammer and a plastic saw. Unfortunatally I cant let him get too close now with all the paint done.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

My oldest, hit my 65 mustang convertible with a not so plastic hammer when he was 3 or 4, I had done a similar resto on that. After that I decided to sell it and pave the driveway. I was too nervous having it around. Now he is a great helper and has the passion for perfection. A bit like me he`s a little OCD sometimes. I`m sure when yours are older they will be great help too.

Yes Im sure mine will be a great helper one day. He wants to learn it all already. I just hope theres enough future projects to pass on the knowledge.

Hey Scott Just found your build. Wow that's crappy..I mean ..You and the boys are making the rest of us look bad.... I have to go out and polish the turd I have to get it to look 1/2 that nice. Looks better than new..I know GM never put any serious time in to these trucks, slapped together and out the door....... I would recommend undercoat.. I used Tinted UPOL urethane. it comes out darker than the paint but is good protection under rockers and wheel wells. Way to go boys....and Dad.....Can't wait to see the new 3 car garage for these great looking trucks.....Ed.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

I just came across this thread as well. LOVE the work you and your boys are doing! I picked up a 70 C10 that was the same original color, and you've already helped me decide to stick with it when I get to the paint stage. I won't be doing the level of restore that you are (yet) because I don't have the shop space (again, YET!) but hopefully one day I'll have it looking half that nice!!! I'll definitely be following your progress, and if you have good pieces that you don't reuse let me know. I might need some things for my 70... Keep up the great work!
