or 67cheby's new bolt in ones he's working on :D

On the firewall, I'd fill in the blower motor hole and then step back and look at it again to see how you want to do it. I like the firewall as tight to the engine as possible...

well trying to avoid that.. I am gonna match the curve of the driver side then recess the wall 1/2 inch behind the curve

added a 1/2" lip to the inside

Re: another bagged 67

It looked flush in the pictures...so I was thinking that way you wouldn't need to match up the two sides (if it was flush)...now that i re-read I see the lip is meant to recess the entire firewall...I like that idea of matching the two sides and recessing it. I made my firewall symmetrical although it stuck out like factory and then we covered the wiring gutter area with a 45 degree angled welded piece. The recess will look cool! :D

Re: another bagged 67

by tight to the engine I mean the upper shape of the firewall...not the engine touching firewall :D

I like the firewall to kind of mimic the shape of the engine without a big gap where firewall is recessed for no real purpose.....

I hear ya. i will be putting the motor back in when I start mocking up the cardboard firewall mainly to figure out the trans tunnel to firewall curve shape

Negative.. I met the limits of my skills.. I attempted 4 different firewalls and did not like them.. found a company that prefabs them.. having one made. Direct sheet metal

Just out of curiosity, what was difficult about the firewalls you tried? Was it that you just didn't like the look when you were done or something structural that wasn't turning out right? I'm thinking of cutting my firewall in the same location, but just doing a smooth piece of sheet metal to make it flat.
