Nice!! Yeah he/she needs a good little cruise in it to get all those webs out of it, I totally wish you lived closer man, it would be such a thrill to be able to have 2 identical trucks cruise the streets

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Well got truck tagged today. Shop would not align it. Both inner and outer tie rods shot, all bushings shot and they didn't like the ball joints. So full rebuild before i can drive it. :cuss:

Dang that sucks to hear man!! Isn't that the joys of an old vehicle don't know what's wrong or you think it's all good but go get something done and find out it's not all good lol vicious cycle no doubt

Well big news. Went to a local auction this morning and scored 2 15x10 repo truck rallies for 42.00 For the pair. Retail on them is 159.00 a wheel. Now i need to get 2 15x6.5 van rallies for the front and i'm set.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Nice man congrats on the steal of a deal, my advice try to see if you can get 15x8 instead, because I had the 15x6 on mine to begin with and now I got the 15x8 I like how the 15x8 fills in the gap.

Problem with the 8's is how low mine sits. I think they will rub in corners. I will see what I can find at the pull a part.:metal:

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Thinking charcoal grey for the color. or white. Need ideas. Pictures anyone. Originally thought white, But truck will be solid blue some day. might be to much white.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

well what else were you planning to have white on the truck first? If your not going to have any white no worries on doing the rims white because it would look fine. but if your going to have some white wouldnt hurt to go grey cause it would give it some contrast to it all.

Well some progress has been made. Parts bought for front end rebuild.
upper ball joints, lower ball joints, inner tie rods, outer tie rods, adjustment sleeves, upper control arm bushings, lower control arm bushings, master cylinder. Soon the fun will begin.

Sweet man glad to hear the progress that was made, a little progress goes a looong way.

On the Rallies I think white would look good for sure. :metal:

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Nice man, sounds good to me. Yeah, I'm lucky my truck is garaged now, cause I can actually work on it and not have to worry a lot a lot about it being cold. But here in Texas man its been so flip flop I just want it to decide what its going to do haha

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

I hear ya man. 30 one day 50 the next, then back in the 30's. Make up your mind mother nature.

77ChevySharkBite 01-07-2013 10:29 AM

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

True that, but for Texas its definitely better than heat, I actually much rather have it cold than hot
