Re: Project '86
I didn't get to go to the show like I wanted. I wish things would have been different this weekend. I really regret not getting to see that thing. I love all the stuff you have done to it. How was the show BTW? Anything else cool there? Anything other than late model stuff? Any/many cars?
I don't remeber if I have asked before, but where in East Texas are you? |
Re: Project '86
I am about 20 minutes east of Longview. There where a lot of really nice C10s at the show. I only saw about 5 old hot rods (camaros mostly) but they were restored nicely. I tried to take a picture of every C10 there (looking good or bad) so tonight I might make a new thread and post them up.

Re: Project '86
Since sectioning my fenders somewhat limits my ability to turn unless at full lift I decided to narrow my front track width 2.25" total. I got brackets to move my upper arms and I am having my stock cross member modified. I hope to get it back this weekend and if so will post some updates next week.

Re: Project '86
Hands down one of the coolest builds ........ plus I see your doing some of the work in your carport "garage".
Sweet build. Ratty 46 |
Re: Project '86
Glad you like it. As you pointed out I don't have a shop or even a garage so all this work gets done outside.
|
Re: Project '86
Anytime you want to work inside, you can come up to my house and work on mine in the garage! The truck looks amazing man, and your hard work is so evident, and you should be really proud. Like others have said some people may not notice things, but people like us that are familiar with these trucks are in total awe!!!

Re: Project '86
I am picking up my crossmember today so I should have some updates this weekend.:bann:

Re: Project '86
Is the not being able to turn a lift issue, or what?? I've been planning on dropping my front fenders down as well, but I'm certainly not in a position to be reworking any suspension components. I'm running a 20x8.5 with 5.25" backspacing up front, and usually max out the lift everytime I turn just to be safe. What do you think????
|
Re: Project '86
Even with the fenders sectioned I can clear the tires (29" tire) at full lift. My main goal here was to narrow the track width to give me room to be able to turn when low. Granted I won't be able to turn lock to lock or anything but I will have a lot more room which means I don't need as much lift to turn.

Re: Project '86
Thanks for not "smashing" my dreams!
Good to hear, I can understand wanting to keep it low for ride height... but really function follows form in my case. Plus I'm running a slightly shorter tire so that should help as well. |
Re: Project '86
Got the cross member temporarily installed today. So far I haven't come across any major issues. More to come in the next few days.

Re: Project '86

|
Re: Project '86
Just raised the floor in the bed. I am going to weld some 2x4 tubing into the frame and then cut the bottom of the frame off.
