That suburban/short bed is in Joplin?! You need to take that thing to the last cruise-in of the year for Wheaton!!! I wanna see that thing up close!

Re: 8-9 seater shortbed

started lineing up the cab today. Notice I said "started". What a pain! Did you know, that the body lines on a crew cab get larger as they go to the rear of the truck? This info is especially useful when building a concoction of a truck like the one I am building. I must admit I scratched my head for just a sec when I could get the top body line to line up, and the bottom one wouldn't. Then I'd line up the bottom body line and the roof wouldn't line up. Then I measured!!!;)
oh what a day.

Here are some pics from last week. I was able to fix the gas tank from the truck with a repair apoxy, and install and plumb in the truck gas tank. the old suburban tank is out of the back of the bed now. Yay! It is on the garage floor awaiting the day that I may use it again by mounting it where the spare tire is. Still contemplating this. My range has gone from near 400 miles to 200 miles with the smaller tank. Still need to work some more on cab alainment. I spent probably 8 hours on it a couple weeks ago and still need to spend 8 hours on it. I want to get this just right, so no rushing this part of the project.

I did manage to conect the emergency brake back up. peddal works and everything! :)

I am showing a Chevy Top Kick that was built to haul this boat (Turbine powered)...... At the time we had to fabricate the design, because no one made one back then. The sides / front / back is thick aluminum.

I wanted to show the fender skirt we had someone make to close the large gap at the wheel well.

Re: 8-9 seater shortbed

It's not your welding...that gap is just too large...if you had put a small piece of metal between it would have helped out.

Look good. That interior looks like it was rolled that way off the assembly line.

Re: 8-9 seater shortbed

Correct me if I am wrong.......

Isn't the sturdiness of the body important to the strength of the truck/frame?

Those welds .... I hope the photos are of the welds are before the welding was completed.

Bondo won't hold up, if it only hides those welds?

I'm glad..... I'd hate to see a video of your first test drive, and "wham"....

The video goes viral for the amazing truck that went two directions at the same time!! :m6:
