so what kind of valvetrain did it have when you pulled the VCs off

I'm not sure of the exact specs, but you can see it had some upgraded parts. It has heavy duty pushrods, bigger rockers, studs, guide plates (regular short v/c's wouldn't fit). The intake valley had been coated too. (that has to add 10hp, easy  ) It runs real good, has nice pick up, but it sat for a long time and it smokes a bit. I'm sure its the valve seals. All that's coming out for a TBI set up. I'm curious to see what else is in there when we pull the heads off.

Did you put chrome valve covers back on? If so that's good for about an extra 50hp!

man those wheels look sweet. those are baby moon wheels with the outter cover removed and replaced with 90's Chevy center right? think I may hunt something like that for my 83. right now I have a matching set of the old "hurricane wheels" that are true directional. I didn't know they made them like that. I'd trade these for a nice set of ralley's with centers and beauty rings ANY day lol

The rockers are black. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that stuff yet. I'll definitely keep you in mind! :chevy:

Thanks! Those are the old style baby moons. Newer smoothie caps didn't fit. The diameter of the older caps are smaller. I also kicked around the idea of Hurricanes too. I thought they would look pretty cool with the black part of the wheels done the same color as the body. You can't go wrong at all with rallys though...Timeless...:chevy:

Haven't done much to the '73 lately beside drive it. It's been my daily driver for the past couple of months. Anyhow, I scored me a better carb for it the other day for $50. It's running great. Also, one of my 90's style wheel centers was missing the bowtie...Found one at the junkyard the other... $2... :metal: So...a little 'ttt'... $52 of improvement... I plan on spraying it white soon..While the weather's still good. Wish me luck!

Later...jc

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

Thanks! Our junkyard here in Santa Fe is pretty good. What's great about it is the guy selling the parts isn't at all a car guy! He seems to have no idea what some parts are worth. For a while, there was alway at least 3-4 square bodies on the lot, but lately most of them go straight to the crusher... Kinda sad... :( Anyhow, it's still there, and still a great resource. Luckily, I already got most of the parts I need...

Santa Fe's up here at 6500 feet... More of a 'forest' than a desert. It's not a rain forest, but we get a good amount of moisture here. New Mexico is not all a baron desert like in the western movies...

As for the "stable"... Chevy Only Baby! Our blood type is :chevy:Chevy:chevy: Orange!!
