I am wondering the same thing about that fuel filter. I wanna delete that wif sensor too. I think that is the KSB or cold start advance. It advances the timing based on the intake air temperature. I think it only works below 40 deg?

Hey thanks . Thats a true complement coming from you . Do you know if there is a fuel filter I can use that dosent have the hole i the bottom for the water sensor ? JUst thought since it isnt getting used I would delete it . Also I'd like to know what the solinoid looking thing is on the side of the inj pump. Has a 1/4 ish line going up behind the pump and a electrical spade on the other end.

Sorry to hear abt your tranny. Im sure you will be going in no time .

Thanks again

Try a FS1251 for the fuel filter. It has no sensor, just a drain in the bottom of it that is part of the filter.

Yes that is the KSB. On the early non ic engines it is a wax controlled valve, then in 91.5 they went to the electric one. On the engine in my 95 F-350, I've never worried about hooking it up. I run high timing and it starts really well in the cold so I haven't worried about it.

What sort of timing are you running on that F350? Advanced the pumped or skipped a tooth?

[QUOTE=6BT 56;5872767] My new alt is cool. I took the one that was on truck and the local electric guy made it 1 wire hook up. It's maken 14.7 Volts and 124 amps. That will do the trick !

How did he do this? I gotta get this done too.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

No real updates. Still on vac actually. I stopped at summitt in Ga and got some steering joints. They have there own brand and they were real nice for $50 ea. Much cheaper than the borgenson. Also stopped at a diesel event in NC today and got a fuel pin and govenor spring as well. In VA now . Maken the treck home tomorrow . Would love to get my steering all done this week once home.

What sort of diesel event was it?

I installed a 3200 rpm spring in my truck when I was putting the pump back together. Also what sort of fuel pin did you get? I just rotated my fuel pin.

The event was a Piedmont ( did I spell that ok ?) Dragway in NC. Rustys Diesel put the event on. 1/8 Drags. Truck pulls. show n shine . midway with new parts on display and some used stuff and a few used trucks for sale too. It was good fun. Not too huge. BD Diesel had a booth there. I bought there fuel in and gov spring. It was $225 Locally in canada. $142 At summitt in Ga but they were outof stock. I bought it from the BD guy there for $130. Thought that was a good deal. Im going to get the truck up and running before I install it tho.

Now Im back up into the snow. and minus 12 last nite. Yuck. Im going to try to get some stuff done on the truck in the next week. I will be into boat seasion soon and then will have no time to breathe till Sept.

Swiched a bunch a electrical around to make neater for the cummins . Got the master for the hyd cutch mounted. Got to fiish boxing the pass side tomorrow . Then to freshen up the paint . Run 1 front brake line and my line lock if i can find it ?????:waah:

Hope to install the eng for the last time on sat or sun. Then its all small things after that point . Boats will be launching in a week or 2 here so that will mean no extera time for me till way into the summer. So glad to have all the big stuff out of the way. Seemed to take forever to get to this point .

Also foud a few of the day I found it . The time spent sitting in pondering if I sould pop on it . My helper said go for it . My how time flys !

Here are a few pics.

Are you getting close to your fuel tank mods? If so I would recommend not drilling the holes in the pickup tube for it to act as a return. I believe that is where a lot of my problem is coming from of my truck not running. I completely filled the tank to the brim with fuel and it actually will run now. Still has a miss but I have narrowed it down to the number 2 injector. Just gonna give you a heads up on that return line situation.

Hey Luther. thanks for the heads up . i was going to do like you did then when I decided to use the raycor fuel filter I found it had 2 inlets. What I have done is to use the 1 line from tank to the filer. just like stock. I will run the return line from the eng into the filter which is mounted on the firewall. then the feed line just comes from the filter to the eng. I hope it works . works well in my head anyway. lol. Glad to hear you are maken headway. you have come so far , you deserve a break !. i will have my eng in in a few hrs . got the frame boxed yesterday. Painted and just have to boly a few things on and will be good to go this aft. Hope to have it running by sun aft. Not drivig , just running .

Hey you might know this , The splined adapter from my
getrag tarns to my 205 is getting tired. Its in there for now but will need to do b4 too long. Where can I get one of those ?

Well here we go . I am having problems as well. I know it is just air but I think it should be bled by now. now Im wondering if My return line back into the filter is going to work .

At leas it's in for good now . Do up a trans crossmember Some driveshafts and put the front tin bak on. If i can make it run that is .

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Yep lots of air . I dont think my return line is going to work. I unhooked it and just let it go ito a bucket and it came around quickly. Im going to have to make my return line go straight to the tank like yours. im using my orginial pickup for the feed tho so I will have to figure out sumtin else to get my return into the tank .

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

So how did you plumb the return into the into the tank. From what I was thinking you need to keep your fuel system submerged in fuel at all times. It looks good finally in there. I dig the Detroit green.

Hi Luther . Yep I did the green to. It grows on me more every day. After I red your post abt yours running better I was wondering abt my return line. When it didnt want to bleed thats the 1st place I went. I got I running good just dumping into a bucket. I posted a few questions on Diesel wrenchers 72 thread . Everyone who replied said they have there return going to the tank but just dumping in.

I used a boat thru hull fitting that was set for pipethread . Then added a 90 and a 3/8 barb and off I went . Going out now to thro a log on the outdoor wood burner . Will take a few more pics now that its running .

In case you do not see it in my thread, here is a shot of the speedo cable extension. It is long enough I looped it over to the frame to keep it out of harms way.

Great work on your truck! You're making great progress for sure! The 205 coupler may be hard to find new. Let me check with a dodge dealer and see if they offer it at all. Maybe Quad4x4 or a place like them offer them?

Looking great! How are you gonna do the "gas" pedal? I took the one out of the donor truck because it has a nice square mounting pad but I wanna see how you did yours.
