Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
She is coming together pretty nice...except the motor mount  Ahh it always twists that way anyway, no one else will have a hammer. Like the paint color matching the truck and block.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Are the mounts the same as the 230 and the v8's? For some reason I remember the 292 mounts being unique. I have two sets of the 230/v8 mounts if they will work.
Engine look great sitting down in there and again....the paint looks great. |
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I am pretty sure they are all the same, and I have a set of them as well if you need them.
Mine were under the original 292 that came in my truck. You are welcome to them. |
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Thanks Guys, the 292 engine perch is different from the others I believe, I took the V8 perch off of the cross member I took out but it's totally different, And I would assume it would also have to be for a 4x4..
I got the exhaust from the manifold bolted up and got the carb on it and fuel pump, Gonna put the starter on it today and clean up the line from pump to carb... |
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Then...you MUST post a vid of it running when you fire it up. lol :chevy:
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
OOPS TJ I fired it up yesterday, she was running smooth.I'll see what I can do..
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Not too much work on the truck, It's been very hot here in the 90's and no shade...I did
manage to get the steering rod welded and sleeved. This will work until I can get me an early 70's column. http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps635fcb0b.jpg http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6aecab38.jpg I still got to find or fab up some power steering brackets. Slowly but steady. |
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Progress = :metal:

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I've noticed that with the cowl area exposed that a lot of the caulking has dried out and fallen off,I will definitely re-caulk these areas to keep water from coming inside. I have already re-caulked the roof seam a while back..

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
It is looking great. Keep it up!

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Well gentlemen I found me a motor perch I need it's in a 69 4x4 with a 292, The gentlemen told me if I pull the engine I could have the perch or If I want to buy the engine he would let me have it for $100.00 bucks, I already have an extra engine now so I think I'll pass on the engine for now and just get the part I need... I need to get my car sold so I can buy some more for the truck so I can finish....
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I'd buy the engine...slap it in another truck and turbo it! Then drive it till she blows up! Then...not really a wasted motor...only 100 bucks anyhow.
