Rok,

I've had the rubber o-rings on mine for 3 years and never had a problem with them. Here's what I did on my tailgate.

Very nice! Give some more info on your gate holder open thingy's:hm: The owner wants rods like that but I have not even looked into it yet. Are they just fleet side bars that you installed and notched out the inner gate edge? Thanks for any info you might be willing to part with.

Now the fun begins. Roll pan does not fit as is due to the lic. plate holder and the lights are also not going to clear due to the rear bed mount as well. Then is the common problem of a rear tank in a pickup and the second to rear mount (masking tape) hitting. So once I get the steps and start on the rear tail gate openers I will start to slice and dice this bed apart and make it all fit:whine:

I am also thinking about welding up the bed so it does not need the bolts to hold it together. I think this will make the paint stage and reassembly alot easier with les chances of damage. And since this bed is electro coated rust should not be a problem. What do you step side guys have to say about this? Good/Bad or what, this is the first step bed I have delt with from this point of being brand new.

I will called Mar K about the license plate box problem. They said the according to the instructions for the roll pan the rear cross sill has to be modified so the license box will fit.

Note. Kevin they said the instruction for the roll pan should be taped behind a piece of foam inside the roll pan box?

These tail lights are looking like they may be a better option.

Here are some other pics of the tail gate support hinge thingy. I can't remember where I got them or who they belong too.

Putter actually sent me the set off of his truck! So not really sure, all I can recall is something about a late model nissan truck (the smaller ones).

I really like how they clean up the back of the truck!

You also have to notch out the tailgate.... also, measure TWICE drill ONCE  (It took me some time to fill that extra hole back in!)

I built mine for my 48 about 4-5 years ago. Not to long after that, Mar-K came out with their kit:whine: . So, I bought one for my 52. Actually I bought the complete bed kit with reversed tailgate. Very high quality, Mar-K does it right.

Yep it is always fun what you run accross. Thanks for all the info, I went out side after this mornings post and played with my fleet side gate abit and figuresd it all out. But hect if K-mark makes a full kit for this than that sounds like the way to go. So have any of you guys welded your step side bed together? Pro's or Con's?

Kevin, I welded the one together in my 48. I really like the way it came out, a very clean look and extremely sturdy. I put a steel floor in it also, which made my decision easier. The only con I see, is if you had an accident to one of the panels, it would be harder to fix. I also welded studs on for the fenders so you don't see any bolts in the bed. Check out this link and you can click on the bed pictures:

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!

Nice Job! The main reason I am thinking about doing it is not so much to eliminate the bolts but to hold it all together while it is being painted. Jugernot has all SS hardware and he wants it this way for some added contrast to the yellow but I am worried about pulling the whole bed apart, painting everything and then getting it all back together without and damage. Plus it would make it real sturdy and rigid. I hear you on if it got in a wreck but that is what Ins. is for and damage is damage so what ever it takes to fix it is what they need to pay for. I would only stich weld it in a few not to visible areas, I am not trying to smooth it out or anything like that.

Jugernot what are your thoughts?

That will not effect the installation of the wood floor, will it? If it won't welding it up is okay with me.

I will call Mar K about the tail gate check links.

Can anyone tell me what year tail light these are?

That is one nice 67! I just never got used to the look of the small back window. They also made back window's in 67 right? But I love that color and the stance looks great as well.
