Re: I'm one of you guys now

Yeah I have a chrome a/c bracket, water pump w/pulley, and chrome crankshaft pulley. Then I got a set of cheap chrome valve covers which are a pain in the rear. When I do the engine swap I am swapping the a/c and alternator. That will do away with the chrome bracket for the a/c. Already have a new water pump. So I just need to pick up a crankshaft pulley. Not a priority though. I think the gas tank sitting in the back of the truck since the meet I need to get taken care of!

I was thinking about painting my engine the cast gray color. Maybe painting the heads alum color, and then all the pulleys and such black. I am looking at the endurashine Edelbrock RPM intake. Then my cousin has a set of alum valve covers we are getting clear powder coated.

Not correct.

I ordered my '80 new; it was a Scottsdale but I opted up for the chrome grille and square headlamps (RPO V22, IIRC).

Yeah easier said than done! You know how it is to have a plan to do something, then unpredicted events step in the way!

I did get the exhaust tips cut off, and the sport bumper installed today. I need to drill new holes, and move the bumper in, but don't have the time today. That will have to wait. Of course the wife has the camera so no pics :(

Nice score on the exhaust man! I think the color scheme you're working on will look awesome! I'm planning on doing a lot of clean simple stuff to the engine bay of mine. Get rid of all the clutter, and not a lot of shiny chrome everywhere just maybe the valve covers and air cleaner. Everything else just nice complimenting colors. The gray and black you are going with will look slick, and will go with just about any color you end up going with on the exterior of the truck as well.

Yeah don't even get me started on mine. I may have to rip all mine out and start from scratch. I can't stand people that just hack stuff up!

Re: I'm one of you guys now

yeah and I always seem to get vehicles after King Hack had them :banghead:

Re: I'm one of you guys now

I haven't even tackled the wiring on mine. I hate to even look. I have one wire in the engine bay that has a red wire nut on it. Really, a wire nut? :banghead: Then when I was messing with the bumper the other day I had wires just hanging down from the left tail light. Opened up the tail light and they didn't even splice them. Just stripped a little section off the factory wire, and coiled the new one around it, and taped it up. So I can only imagine what the rest of the truck looks like. I know I have wires just hanging down from under the dash. All I can think is I'm pretty sure that needs to go to something, but the truck seems to run fine so I can tackle it another day!
