Sounds like the fun part is about to start. I think you've got some serious nuts pulling that truck into to the trailer with out it being attached to a vehicle! :truck:

Re: Ben Jammin's 1955 Chevy/GMC Project

A good word for the whole process of getting the truck on and off would be...... "Rigged"

We had to raise the end of the trailer so the body would clear to get the truck on and off. When we loaded the truck it the trailer was hooked to the hauling truck when we pulled the front wheels onto it... Then we, extremely carefully unhooked the trailer and raised it way up so the body would clear.

When we unloaded it we unhooked it from the get-go. You can see we supported the back with blocks so both trailer tires were off the ground.

To say the least I saved the 40 bucks for a u-haul trailer!

And right now it is less about time that it is about money so I consider it a SUCCESS even though it took much more time and effort.

The first part of my plan is unraveling. I got the front clip off and swapped out my front axles.

I love these old trucks.... it only tooke me 8 bolts to remove the WHOLE front clip!

Here is the difference it made...

My next step is to put in the rear end on top of the leaf springs.

One of my friends has my engine pulller right now so that will be next... it will drop the front a good little bit with the engine in there... I can't wait to see the ride height!!!!

I'm so impatient its not even funny. I didn't really have time to tackle the rear end today so I wanted to see a 55 front end...

Re: Ben Jammin's 1955 Chevy/GMC Project

I'm definately painting the whole truck. I found a PPG color that is 3 stage yellow. And i drool when I look at the paint chip..... Im thinking graphite grey and red to compliment... This is just a mockup stage.

You guys will probly get bored with my slow pace, but it's gonna be like 5 years until I get to drive this thing!

5 years, your working at a brakeneck speed. I'm going on 22yrs. It will all be worth it in the end. You've allready have a good start and with all the info around here it should take you no time at all.

The other day I got a letter in the mail from my mother. A long time ago when I sent her some pictures of random stuff going on.

Long story short, ALL of the original pictures of the first truck I got were deleted from my computer and the only one that still existed was the one I sent to her that I printed at walmart.

She could not find it for a while and out of the blue there it is!!!!

Thank you, MOM

I definately recommend a backup. These pictures were saved in a file and then some others saved under the same name

Best thing to do is get a external USB drive that is big enough and copy everything to it then backup your pictures to DVD, or CDs.

For under $100 you can get 400-500 G external USB memory. I have all of the files on my home computer on it as a back up. I also have two that I use for my work server. I lost all my stuff once and it won't happen again, I said knocking on wood. I also use them for transfering files between computers.

Re: Ben Jammin's 1955 Chevy/GMC Project

well, well, well. It has been a while since my last update. Not much has been going on with the truck.

I just started a new job, another semester of school, and all the other normal things that go along with that stuff.

I went this weekend to my local Pull-a-part. I got an email saying they had a 1955 chevy truck in stock, so I raced to Birmingham to go see what I could pick off of it.

Weeeelllll.... Turns out it was a FIRST SERIES!!!! So i could get nothing off of it. And all you AD guys dont worry it was pretty rough.

So tomorrow I'm cleaning out part of the shop and going to try to get the motor and tranny dropped in so I can tack weld the transmission mount and rear axle seats where they need to be......

Hopefully tomorrow Ill have some pictures to show

Re: Ben Jammin's 1955 Chevy/GMC Project

well I had some helpers the yesterday with the truck. They are my niece and nephew. The helped me clean out part of the shop and my nephew helped me remove the front end.

I got the front end off, got the motor mount bolts and motor mounts, and transmission mount on, and trimmed the transmission crossmember a bit.

So i didnt get all I wanted done, but I'm getting there.

I would post some pictures.....but..... the button to attach them has disappeared
ill try to host them somewhere
