Hahaha. Let's try it. We could both have the best looking "STOCK" trucks out there at the local show circuit. I think the left bedside is still original 67 Chevy. |

Here's his build thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=293455 And as for your build thread, you have to start somewhere! :) If nothing else, it will encourage you to keep on chuggin' along because at the very least, you want to see your build thread improve. Ha! |

I am in the same boat as you on the bedside situation, I started to strip down the passenger side and it is covered in 1/2' of filler from top to bottom and front to back! How hard was it to replace the entire bedside? Was the fit good? Your truck looks great! I atached a pic of my mess. Craig

Once you do get the bedside off, you will need to do some cleaning to clean off the old seam sealer and you'll need to apply more before you put the new bedside on. I used a grinder to make short work of the cleaning. :) Oh, and definitely do this with the bed unbolted from your frame because there are 3 bolts in the front holding it to the front bedside. You can only access those with the bed scooted away from the cab. Then after you bolt the new bedside on, use more seam seal along the newly created seam between old bed floor and new bedside. One person can do most of the work up until you need to slide the old bedside off and put the new one on. Then you need a second hand to hold it in place while you stick some bolts through it. During this whole process, you'll discover whether you have any problems with rust on the edges of your bed floor and fenders. Fortunately, ours was all properly sealed so only surface rust. If you find it to be really rusty, well, you might want to consider a new bed floor too. Then while you are at it, might as well go with wood. Hahaha. This is how our build got to be way more involved and extreme then we ever intended, but I'm glad we did it this way as I think we are going to have something to be really proud of. If you decide to replace yours and run into any trouble or have any more questions, give me a yell and I'll call ya up and walk you through it. I'd be glad to help. Eric |

And the cab after buffing and polishing and temporarily hanging the doors (It's dirty again though so they'll be buffing it one last time right before it goes back together)

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
dang .... i will never catch you now... i just posted a pic of my bed in primer today and here you go with all these paint pics, LOOKS AWESOME, that truck is going to look to good for you to not go ahead and do the frame....whats a couple hundred more dollars , while you are at it ??
|
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
what are you going to be running for wheels ??
|
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
They will be respraying the frame for us too. Just won't be powdercoated. We really debated going ahead and taking the cab off and powdercoating, but we just want the darn thing back now. That's for the next time we restore it. HAHAHAHAHA!
We bought some wheels off a board member a while back. I'll see if I can come up with some pictures. We're not quite sure if they will be the permanent ones or not. They are a bit extreme for us, but I'm thinking it may just work. They are 22s. What we really want is Bonspeed Ramones (20s) but at 700 a pop, we're holding off for now. |
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
only 700 apiece you should by 2 sets just in case something happens to the first set...LOL, i want some billet wheels bad also, just cant stand the thought of paying that much for wheels, maybe a bargain will come along ...
