Looks good. I'm almost afraid to what shows up on mine after I start blocking it.

Thanks. it was definitely surprising because in good lighting and to my eye and hand those areas looked perfect....then the halogens at an angle showed the imperfections.

Great build you've got going there. I was in Portsmouth all last week, came home through Richmond yesterday. Wish I'd have had the time to get in touch and maybe see it in person. Looks like I'll be back early August for 3 weeks, maybe then I could drop by?

I wish I would have tried the halogen light idea. I totally missed some spots that might have showed up with the extra light at the right angle. With that black on there it shows EVERYTHING! Nice work keep it up!:5150:

Re: 71 Blazer "Finishing Touches"

well, paint is on hold due to extreme temps so I've been buying parts, painting and organizing them, and getting the interior done. Finally got to see the seats and I'm really happy with their progress. Also found the rear seat frame looks almost brand new as well as the foam and the tag was on it still which I thought was cool...

First, a better closeup pic of the primer....

Here's the rear seat frames

and the tag
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...3rd2010004.jpg

and the front seats...I'm doing the utility buckets because I like how they look like the rear bench seat shape...the pattern of the rear bench is going to make it look like the fronts also....

Thanks. I'm very happy with them...will have pics of the rear bench tomorrow... You can have them for the cost of shipping (and 1200 cash ;) )
About the primer...Jason is friends with a local painter who is the head painter for the largest and well respected paint shop in Richmond.....we went a step further with the 600 than he does in the shop so it should come out super slick looked. He's been helping out with advice through the project and it's really helping the final results...

Thanks. The sealer, paint, and clear definitely will make or break the paint job and the truck. If it comes out as nice as the primer this will be a show winning truck....if not it still will be a SUPER nice driver...

Funny you should mention that. I saw a missed call when I got out of church. Just called Jason back and my truck is turning blue :chevy:

I am PSYCHED....not only is it getting painted....but it's getting painted by one of if not the top painters in Richmond. He came over with all his Sata guns and nice paint supplies. He's been providing advice through the process and ended up offering to spray it for Jason to show him the proper technique for this heat. Jason said it's coming out killer. This painter, Gary, originally had said we were wasting out time with the 600 grit....but after spraying the first coat of paint actually said he was super impressed with how nicely the paint was laying down and that we won't have as much buffing to do....:metal:

Then, I went to check out the bench seat and the brackets were all on the seats....ready to go in as soon as the carpet is down.....

I think they came out GREAT! Very comfy, classy, and high quality.
Look much better in person....it's dusty in the pics too...

Then came back on the way back home from the Upholstery shop.....to find the truck paint coats AND clear DONE!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love the hot weather that sped up the flash time immensely....

This thing was practically glowing as I walked up the driveway...

Re: 71 Blazer "Finishing Touches"

Again, it looks even better in person. We're planning to wetsand with 2000 and then only buff if needed....shouldn't need much at all.

Here's the passenger side...
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...5th2010012.jpg

I went to Walmart for some things my wife needed afterwards and was comparing the paint job. I have to say that the paint on the blazer is glossier than anything else in the lot. And the small amount of orange peel on it now is comparable to what's on all the new vehicles....after wet sanding this thing is going to have a show quality paint job!!!
