where did you get that primer?? How much does it cost?? That PPG DP-90 from carquest has gone out of my budget. last time I bought a quart and the hardner is was over 90 dollars.

all of my paint supplies are being give to me by my buddys paint rep, they are calling it a demo, mike said they might want me to put a small sticker in the rear window and take it to a couple local car shows when its finished.so i dont really know anything about cost but i would say its probably about the same as yours. oh sorry i didnt see where you said a quart, i would figure that price would be for a gallon.

Ohhh I so want to go out and start on my hood now... nice job on that!
What are you using to block with? I keep looking at the Auto parts stores but I never seem to find a "block" and was thinking about just getting some belt sander paper, and a 2x4....

Re: my 65 fleetside build

i use a dura block, i got my six peice set off ebay for sixty dollars with free shipping. might have went up some since i bought mine though. as far as sandpaper i usally start with 36 grit then 80 then 220 then 400. the 36 and 80 only on bondo. 80 and 220 on glasing putty, then 220 and 400 on primer. then 600 on final water sanding. hope this helps, alan would be able to give lots more help than i ever could i am just playing it by ear. thanks for the comments on the hood. just came back from meeting 198plus, super nice guy and his truck is just as nice in person as it is on the site.

That's good advise on the paper. Ronnie said you were coming down. How close did you get to Ball Ground?

Re: my 65 fleetside build

not real sure how close i was to ballground,i guess however far it is from the canton exit on 75. came home and sanded the hood with 220 and put a second coat of primer on it. stripped one of my cowl extensions and cant make up my mind whether to weld up the c10 emblem holes and not put them back on or to just put them back on. any suggestions? whats everyone else doing?

Re: my 65 fleetside build

i think your 65 will look good with them, and the rest of the trim! without them its harder to tell what year it is! i'm going with the cab sails only painted silver, to match the bumpers and a blue body color! should look good when i get to that point, i just want to drive it again with the upgrades i have done for now and paint it in a yr or two!

If you went thru Canton I am north of canton about 10 miles.

I deleted the emblems off mine. I guess it is just a personal opinion. I have something against emblems. I'm putting one emblem on my truck. It's 3/4x3/4" emblem that just says GM. I'm putting it on the glove box door.

Again nice work. You can prime my hood when it comes back from the blaster since you have so much practice. ;)

Yeah That hood is looking slick. Mine is still in front of my shop waiting on you!! lol. That sandblasting is a real fun job huh? It was only like 70 degrees here when I blasted the bottom of my cab and I was sweating like crazy in that hood. Nice Job!!

I have a dent in the front p-side corner of my hood that I have to work out first before I do anything to my hood...
Going to bring it into the garage soon and start looking at how I am going to attack that problem.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

McMurphy I hope you have a REAL BIG heater in your garage. I couldnt even get motivated to step into the shop when its 5 degrees and snowing like you said it was the other day. Its hard to heat a shop in the cold winter, concrete and metal is like a bunch of ice cubes in the shop. LOL

I have a 115k AllPro multi-fuel heater... its like a jet engine and had not had any problems yet keeping the garage around 60-70 degrees. But the -60 degree days are coming, so that will be the true test. Will probably buy a creeper then too... that floor will suck the heat out of your body indeed!

Thanks man, I appreciate the thought. Trust me when I say that the drive down there would be killer right now....
I dont mind the dent, it is the location that is going to make it tough I think.

I totally get what you are saying here Chevelles!

This is probably absured, but at work I surf these threads, and at home on the weekends they are usually the first and last thing I do each day before and after working on my rig.
One of the killers is reading a thread in 30 min that took someone 18 MONTHS to make, then sitting here waiting on updates like a kid on Christmas morning!!
I have heard of being hungry for knowledge, but at this point I think I am starving
