I read this whole thread yesterday and got pumped up about doing my engine compartment. Got home and popped the hood, seen this and closed it back.....lol. I'll try again next week

Re: Engine compartment transformed in 12 days
I just started my engine compartment. I used satin black all around the engine and it looks great. I need to clean my intake manifold and repaint my heads orange. Can I paint them with a brush? I don't see how I would be able to spray them without removing them. I just put in new header gaskets and they finally don't leak so there is no way I am pulling them off anytime soon.
Anyone ever used a brush to paint their heads or block? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Engine compartment transformed in 12 days
as stated, use lots of tape, newspaper, plastic wrap and small old towels - to wrap things or cover areas that you can not anything else to work. lots of patience too - be careful of overspray - cover fenders, hood, etc. use old valve covers when painting engine, then install nice finished ones.

I ask because looking at these two pictures the holes look to be a different layout on the inner fender. I think it may just be the angle though. Thanks and great job!! Looking forward to doing mine!! |

Re: Engine compartment transformed in 12 days
Yezzi, about the bolts you media blasted and painted with satin diamond clear, how well did that hold up over time? I know you don't have this truck anymore, but wondering if you've done this to one you've kept a while.

Re: Engine compartment transformed in 12 days
What grit media did you hit those parts with?
