First real road trip since the rebuild is friday. Another board member Boucher Racing & I are headed to Bowling Green KY on friday for the National Hot Rod Reunion. Im stoked but still nervous. The way my luck has been lately who knows what could happen. I'm gonna cross my fingers, look for a rabbits foot & say a few prayers that all goes off without a hitch.

The Old Duffer made his first real road trip on the new motor & I gotta say its runnin like a scalded dog! Very pleased & relieved. The National hot rod reunion in Bowling Green KY is an awesome show but needs some more 60's C10 action. Maybe next year some of y'all other fellas will join Boucher racing & I & help us represent.

Awsome to know that you made it there and back safely! It might be a little far a travel for me because I live in oregon.:chevy::metal:

Found a cool vintage 7up cooler when I went to the national hot rod reunion in KY last week then found one to match on ebay. decided I'd mount them in the bed next to my keg fuel tank. Bolted em down siliconed the bolt holes & put bathroom sink drains with the rubber plug to drain after use. Think it turned out neat. they're great storage for everyday driving & also perfect for loading up cold beers in.

Got out the belt sander out & started working on the bed wood. thought I'd sand it down while it's secured in place. Turns out the wood is still in pretty decent shape with no rot. It's definitely not show quality wood but being original should count for something. I'll finish the rest soon. I'm gonna pull the wood out & Linex the inside of the bed walls & wheel wells & bed strips in Fawn to match the interior color.

Thanks man. Being a long bed I got plenty of room for some junk in the trunk. :metal:

Well I've been contemplating converting my LWB to a SWB for a loooong time. Found this short box today for a price I couldn't pass up. So looks like the decision has been made. Should be a good winter project.

Great progress and glad the drive went with no issues.

SWB was the only way you could have made this truck any cooler than it already is! When does winter officially start in TN? Looking forward to seeing that swap finished. Also like the 7up coolers. I thought I had an old pepsi one lined up to to throw in the back of my truck, but the guy backed out of the trade.

Well I've been feeling some trepidation about cutting my frame & going all the way out with the shortbox conversion so my boy & fellow board member Boucher Racing did a quick Photochop of my rig Bagged and short boxed. What do yall think.
Long or short?

Jmorales3181 10-13-2013 10:15 PM

Re: The Old Duffer

Just my .02 but I say short. I like them all but have
Always loved the shortbed myself. Definitely a nice truck either way.

Thanks 67cheby! Your truck is amazing! I've read through your build probably half a dozen times. I hope to build mine to the level you've achieved.

Re: The Old Duffer

I found a SWB roller on the cheap. So now the plan is to get on the list for a porterbuilt front & rear drop member, blow this new roller apart fit everything together make necessary cuts & welds & blow it apart again, send the frame rails to sand blast & then the whole shebang to powder coat & reassemble. I wanna build the short roller & get the short bed ready then transfer everything form the old LWB frame over. I know I could chop the frame but this allows me to continue driving my truck in the meantime.
