Nice looking truck. No patina will be a new look I guess. ;)

Re: slow ride (redux)

bill the 47 is almost done
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psstmxc7vo.jpg

and the 49 is "next" (just needs assembled, all the parts are here). I got a 91 s10 4.3 auto longbed in partial trade for the 65 so the 48 is likely going to be a FERD!

Re: slow ride (redux)

fixed the hinge for jason, always meant to do it, never did. tried pins first but the lower was rusted and stuck, and broken.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...svfk8pklv.jpeg
so we ordered new hinges and popped them in. aside from getting the door aligned, this worked perfectly!

Re: slow ride (redux)

haha yeah that was one of my better ideas!

Jason sent me a picture, I guess his HOA did not feel the same about the patina as he did. problem solved.

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps7hyugoyx.jpg

the sheetmetal on that truck was in just great shape.

Re: slow ride (redux)

Did you use the s10 windshield wiper system?

joedoh 10-28-2015 01:53 AM

Re: slow ride (redux)

yes and no. yes I considered how to make it work but never hooked it up. Jason (the new owner) called the other day and said he was going to try it, which means I will absolutely go help. just need to cut a flat on the shaft, take the original mounting cup off the inside firewall, and screw the s10 wiper motor down, then hook up the factory linkage and the s10 wiring plug. should work perfect.

Re: slow ride (redux)

That would be good.I have always liked the wiper speeds on a newer vehicles. They make less noise too.I think it would be neat to apply what you did to a s10 4x4.

Re: slow ride (redux)

WOW! And to think this build was about to be scraped in the beginning and ended up in a magazine! That has to be the coolest build on this site. 2.2 power and s10 frame... well done, stellar build!

Re: slow ride (redux)

i see you have a tilt bed....how did you tilt it with the bumper?....photos?

joedoh 03-17-2017 02:22 PM

Re: slow ride (redux)

the tilt frame runs from the bed floor to the bushings, which are mounted about the level of the bumper, so there was no way to attach the bumper without having it tilt too. the bumper is attached to the tilt frame then, and tilts with the bed. the bumper is so low, its just decoration anyway.
