It's been a while, but it's time to get back on this build. I'm going to need to start towing my K10 to the trails soon, so I had my buddy come over and help me get it to the garage!

It's been a while but I'm back on project Goldy. The current plan is to make it a hauler / driver. Here are a few videos to get you caught up.

Project intro video.

Front crossmember.

Sway bar mounts and brake lines.

And a bonus video, of working on my buddies bagged out square.

Sure is. :metal::metal:

It was cool seeing the k10 going up onto the hauler in the video. I have been patiently waiting for an update on that one.

It was a good feeling to finally get the K10 on there, but I gotta make some changes to it. I've been a build thread slacker! Here is a link to the playlist for the Hauler the vids are current. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...KsHv-iGNAEzumQ

It's time to get back on Goldy, this time I'm determined to get it finished! It's been a while, and I've been doing Jeep stuff, so hopefully you guys will still like me, ha ha!

Jeep stuff??? I guess I can let that slide. Glad you're back. I was worried about you. You stopped posting right around the time that Jack Wagon shot up that country music show.

Wait....... You are parting out the K10?????

Jeep stuff is OK if you get bent! Don’t part out the K10 just yet... you might get tired of that little V6.

And welcome back.

You were that guy, the one who would wheel a full size right along with all those Jeep guys. Now you are just one of the Jeep guys. Being a Jeep guy myself I can certainly understand that. I am going to miss wheeling videos with that K10 though.

Thanks buddy! I'm still standing, just took a bit of a break. As for the K10 I'm thinking Links, cage, full crawler, etc etc. Hope all is well on your side!

I was that guy, and it wasn't bad, but needs lot's of improvements! I'm in parts gathering mode for the K10. Once the K20 is done, it's on!

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1

The 14 bolt disc brake swap continues. Calipers and brake lines installed!

whitels1 01-01-2019 04:46 AM

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1

I've been getting after it lately, did a live Q&A Friday, it answered a few questions about the disc brake swap, ls stuff, and general truck stuff.

Felt like I needed some motivation, so I got the front axle swapped, bolted up the H2's, and 37's. Got me motivated to box the front spring hangers, and sway bar cross member.

It was time to get the LS1 up in there so I can start mocking up the engine bay.

whitels1 01-11-2019 04:54 PM

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1

Engine bay mock up in full effect! I'm diggin the 2005 Intake air box, looks like it was meant to be. Currently LS1 Fbody manifolds, Ford Expedition Fan, stock K20 shroud / radiator, drive by cable 2002 Tahoe throttle cable.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1

More work on this sucker! Had to fab up some mounts for the battery tray and the air box mount plate, that came off the 2005 Silverado. It's always amazing how many little projects are within the larger project.

The speed holes in the battery bracket may have been a little overkill since you will never see them, but as long as it makes you happy. :)

I debated for a minute, but figured it would look better on the video, and make for better instagram pics

It's time to do the fuel system, and as always a video of how I do it. I decided to do it different on this build, as far as the sender and tank. 87 Baffled K5 Blazer tank, 87 EFI sender with an EP381 fuel pump. Russell -6 AN fuel lines and fittings. Links to all parts used in the video description.

Looking good! Awesome videos! :metal:

You mentioned possibly capping off the vent line that goes to the charcoal canister. For what it’s worth, I did that and had an issue with the truck dying occasionally. It would start right back up. I think it was some kind of vapor lock issue. After I hooked up the vent line it stopped happening. I’m running the stock TBI. Just a word of warning on that. I’m still not 100% sure if that’s what the problem was.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1

Why would you willingly put the fuel filler on the wrong side? A couple of my vehicles have it over there and it is a pain. The majority of vehicles on the road have them on the drivers' side. The auto makers really should get together and standardize that.
