Re: Period Correct Accessaries for your truck...
Remember those bag phones well. First mobile phone we had, was made by Motorola. We were on a trip from Kansas to Indianapolis, Ind. at the time. My wife called her Mom from the phone in the car while we had stopped for gas. My MIL was just in awe that she was talking to her daughter while she was sitting IN the car at a gas station.

Re: Period Correct Accessaries for your truck...
A bit later, bought for an '84. I have an Alpine AM/FM/Cassette with matching "truck phone". Funny how that started out as car phones, then made it illegal to use them while driving. A little lack of foresight there. The two components have matching gree n glow buttons and are linked. When a call comes in the radio volume goes down or if playing a tape it pauses. I want to see if someone can put digital guts in without affecting those 12v functions. Seems doable, but I know nutting

Not directly a truck accessory but since campers were big in this era these would have been brand new back then. The big lantern (left) is a '72 and the small top lantern and heater are both '69's.

Here's my 2 Johnson Messenger 123A's the first one my old man had in his 76 Ramcharger for years he made a custom mount for it. I'm not sure where I got the other one but, I plan on getting them fixed and using the best of the 2, I also have the Johnson external speaker that goes with it. As for a clip, it needs no clip as the cable to the mike is stretched out so I'll probably have it dangle from the rear view mirror. But the temptation to get a Motorola Motrac or Mocom radio is there as well.

I’m currently looking for that same set up. Joined a vintage alpine group but no phone as of yet. Love the green glow

Not sure if it still works... I also have a Messenger I and a II. In my '68 Stepside, I still have a Motorola remote speaker. Also the spring/ball antenna mount is still on the rear of the driverside stepfender. You could get a magnetic-base mic clip, and stick the mic where ever you wanted. Dangling from the RVM is a distraction. |

Since Zooey is currently a radio delete truck I thought about doing what most would've done with a radio delete truck back then, just buy me one of these and carry it with me. Although I have a factory Delco AM radio in case I change my mind.

16.5 aluminum slots in 8.25" and 9.75" width. Parchment snap on tonneau cover custom made by upholstery shop. I also put headers on it with custom dual exhaust exiting behind rear tires from a 90* bend. All installed in '89 when I bought the truck (bought 11/88) to achieve period correct look. I put the tonneau on to protect the original wood bed floor while camper was removed. Then there was the camper on truck since new with graphics painted over in ochre to match truck, by the previous owner who was the original owner.
I still have some camper accessories out of it I will get pictures of |

Maybe we are all throwbacks to that day and time. Life was so much simpler then. For those of us that were around back then. Good times for sure. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Up in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon you need one of these to hunt morel mushrooms. I removed it from a 71 K/10 I parted out. Manufactured by Airglide Instruments of Chicago. I listed it for sale on buy/sell yesterday.
