The first photo shows my '72 as purchased, a stepside 8 footer with utility compartments bolted on where the rear fenders once were.
The second photo shows it now, set up to show, tow, and go. It pulls my enclosed car trailer with my vintage cars inside.

Making some progress on mine. I'm about ready to pull the rear axle and trailing arm out for a refresh.

this build is easily gonna take me a year and a half or more.... but its my first C10... coming from the 88-98 OBS chevy trucks, so this is a little different lol...

pulled it out of a field in Central Texas for almost FREE. Has some typical rust that will be repaired, cab corners, rockers, and possibly cab mounts while we are in there but other than that, sweet patina treatment, and its staying that way, maybe swap out the driver's rear fender for one that isn't notched for a spare, because i won't be running one.... then its getting a front and rear GSI air setup setup it looks like, unless i can find a cheaper way to do the rear... trail arms are a new thing for me haha...

after that i have a small cammed 5.3 going in and a 4l60e, should be fun to cruise around.... dropped on 20"s or 22"s when i get there....

Nice field find....complete with trees growing through the bed !

Good luck with your build.

Save a piece of that tree and use it when you restore the truck!

Any good ideas for tail lights for a stepside? Any good pictures of inner finders using stock heater boxes?

Back in the day, I saw Early Mustang taillights and VW taillights blended into the rear of the stepside rear fenders. Sometimes frenched. Also seen 2000 VW lights, later.
I have also seen Jeep taillight boxes w/ built-in reverse lights mounted where the stock Chevy red lights were.

Are the 55 tail lights fairly easy to adapt?
