Yes!!! Templates are getting scrapped!!! Tubing cross members are over kill prob gonna “K” the front one. Now I can start on the notches!!!

A local dude Cade cut the notches for me on his plasma plasma cut table.

Today I got to lay the notches out on the truck. I am totally guessing on the notch size. I would rather the notch be a little bigger than not enuff. The top of the axle tube should be close to the top of the original frame when it’s all seats and Done. That will allow close to 5 inches of rear suspension “crush” more than I should need but I want to be able to carry parts and not worry about bottoming out.

Based on my math if the rear was to bottom out on the notch the rear of cab would be about 3 inches off the ground. (Not figuring tire sidewall flex) I always like to think if I sell the truck and the. Next guy wants to “bag” it the truck will can go lower than I ever expected.

That's a healthy notch!

I'd say don't worry about the next guy, but you sell pretty much all of your truck projects, so that makes sense. I'd be shocked if you don't sell this one within 60 days of finishing it and:burnout: on to the next one!

Learned something. I was having a hard time removing the scale of the steel. Flapper disc, cut off wheel face, finally I tried a poly carbide abrasive wheel it worked the best still a very slow process and I wore out a disc before completing 2 notch plates.
I took the plunge and soaked the pieces in white vinegar in a Tupperware container. Let it sit 48 hours wow did it work great! After the 48 hours I pulled the plates out and washed them off in another tub with water, soap, baking soda, and an sos pad.
After drying plates hit 1 with a red scotch brite pad just to see what it would do…
Very happy with results, now that I have this process it is not the fastest but there is something always to work on while plates are soaking.
I am gonna soak my 60 truck notches and see if the white vinegar still has the power to remove the scale.

I must be a little low on wake up juice this morning. It took me a couple looks and re-looks to figure out the purpose of the square boat frame rails and spacers but now I've got it.

An interesting idea and one I've not seen before but then I've not see the installation of lowered rear suspension with a straight frame like yours.

Can't wait to see the further progress.

PS: PLEASE fix the rot at the bottom of your cab corners. I painted my entire truck with Rustoleum too when it was in it's shop truck iteration before I took it too far.

Top of notches done. Will finish bottom on Thursday.
