An old thread but I'll toss my old slots into the mix.

When I bought the truck, it had the jeep slots on front and back. The only problem with those is the are all one size, 15 X 7 and not deep dish.

I graduated to what is shown below. Got the front ones at a swap meet with tires for $80. Those are 15 X 8 and the back ones I got from a member on this board for $120 and those are 15 X 10 deep dish. (all 6 lug)

I never did find the time to polish them so they are what they are in the pic.

Now I'm looking for some for my 71 C20. :metal:

Slots are where it's at. My '72 Cheyenne has been wearing this set since the '70's, they were a huge bonus to me as slots are definitely my favorite wheel. When I got the truck the wheels had been seriously neglected for years, I had to scrub and sand the s%#t out of 'em. I think it's time for a polish and new spinners.

Cheyenneshortstep what width wheels are you running and what tire sizes? I have 15x10s for the rear of my shortfleet and 15x8.5s for the front. How much of a drop do you have too? I can't wait to get my slots on my 71. Thanks

I know this is an old thread but I just picked up some 15x7s for 90.00. They had never been cleaned ever I think. The two fronts were black like the one in the pic. I did a 320 wet sand on them and will step up grits. the rears were not too bad but all have the machined lines on them that I want to get rid of. I'll work on these in my spare time. They're unilug too.

I love 5 slot mags. I"ve got 4 sets. The set on my 68 I pulled from a junkyard about 3 years before even owning the truck, or even having a vehicle with 6 lugs. My mom had a 69 Impala with 14X6 front and 15X10 rear 5 slot mags. When the wife and I go to swap meets, I"ll drool over a pair for sale until my wife reminds me that I have 4 sets already.

Hey, so has anyone bolted them on their truck and used the engine to turn them while they sand them?

I have a couple old Daisy rims I'm gonna use to hold my air hoses and long extension cords but I weant to make them look good again.

Yeah, I know it might be dangerous but I will try to hold the sandpaper in such a way that if anything snags it, it pulls the paper out of my hand instead of pulling my hand off!

I set mine on a round shop stool that spins, and stuck a brass drift in one of the lug holes to spin it and held the sandpaper in my other hand. It worked awesome, kinda like a pottery wheel.

That is a perfect example of that time period, and it still looks cool 40 years later.

I love my slots!I spent three years trying to buy them from a guy who had them on a 76 big 10.Every time I saw him I would offer to buy the slots. He got the truck and the slots from his aunt and did not want to part with them.My last standing offer was $200 plus a trade with a clean set of outlaw 2's,I would do all the jack work and have his tire mount and balance .He still said "NO".I ran into him at a mutual friends house and he informed that he had sold the truck and slots along with it that day!

I made him give me the phone number of the guy he sold the truck to.I called and explained the story and made the same offer to the new owner. He said it didn't make much difference to him and we struck a deal.I now have a very nice clean set of deep dish slots and their beautiful.I love the way the look on our trucks. Also, because of the deep backset it made my track width wider and improved handling;)These are period correct and set the truck off.ALL HAIL SLOTS:chevy:

I've always used the etching cleaner, and never bothered with polishing. The center caps are aftermarket.

I bought them at Pep Boys. I think they were western wheels brand. It's been a few years so I could be wrong. The mounting holes didn't line up. I had to drill new ones.

Re: Slot lovers unite!

Running 15x10 slots w/295/50R15 tires on the back of my ’72. Running 14x6 ET V wheels up front with some 215/75R14.

I had machine shop that makes hot rod parts build some flat caps for them. Here is his info http://stores.ebay.com/Dashmans-Hot-...id=p4340.l2563

The wheels already had holes drilled with 2-7/16” centers, think these are a somewhat common pattern because I have had another set with this bigger 5 bolt cap before. The bolt pattern is bigger because the wheels have a center hub hole of 3.75 so a wider bc is required for the caps.

I've had sets on a number of trucks, they always look good. I currently have a set of 16.5 on my 01 hd, and a set of 16.5 6 lug in the shed. I didn't know they made these in 15x10 8 lug until this thread, I would love to find a set of those. Anyone know if they made an 8 lug 15 any wider than 10?
