Here's our '66 GMC Custom Deluxe. I'll be selling it soon since my wife just wants to keep the '69 C20 Sub as her daily driver. Factory roof rack, I don't see too many with them.

I am liking this Sub. A lot!
When looking at production numbers recently, I saw only 433 4x4 tailgate Carryalls were made in '65. Of those 433, we have to guess how many came with custom trim. Probably less than half ?
That's a rare truck.

That's a rare truck.

the sad part of that is that it doesn't make them that much more valuable
mine is a 64 4 x 4 panel and I wouldn't imagine that the production nbrs are that much different than 65.
mine is actually a Canadian production GMC which were produced with chev engines instead of the V6. I wonder how many of these were produced; 10 perhaps. it would be quite interesting to find all those production #'s .
some may use the words rare to describe their vehicles. That may just be that they haven't seen any others. I can remember when I first had my 32 chev sedan back in the early-mid 60's, I can only ever remember seeing another chev under 1937 and that was a 31 panel and I also owned that until some SOB stole the cowl from it. you can see quite a few now and even find parts for them. you couldn't find any pats for them then. they did not have the communications systems then

Heres a shot of my '66 GMC Panel, Canuckian made with a chevy 6, original paint and a low miler. Spent most of its life as a mine site truck. Ran the numbers with GM of Canada, one of 34 built!

Cool. Since you don't have a C/10 Club sticker for that sweet lookin panel. Post a pic in the Caravan thread so John can make sure he has one for you. :metal:

Not a picture, but interesting info anyway. I just wish I had more years, sorry. For the most part, there were fewer of these made than I had thought, especially the 4X's. Kinda rare, huh?

wow, i agree...with all the ones seeming to pop up lately, i would've thought there were more out there....thanks for the info! glad to know my dad snagged one many years ago...now if i can just get around to building it

I guess this would be the proper thread to ask about doors/gates. Is this just a personal preference, or is there an advantage of one over the other?

padresag 05-01-2012 01:13 PM

Re: Post your pics of 64-66 Panels & Subs

this depends what you are using them for. as a work truck I think that the barn doors would be more convenient. you wouldn't be leaning over a tailgate all of the time getting something out or putting it back

Correct me if I am wrong but all Panels have barn doors and all Subs have tail gate.

The chart above shows only how many panels were made total with no mention of doors or gates, so you may be correct on that one. Suburbans however were available with either. Plenty of them with doors are pictured in this thread.
Anybody ever seen a panel with a gate?
