I totally understand that for sure. You will have a super truck by the looks of it for sure when it is done though. Family is always first. Take care. Critterman71

I finally sat down and read your build thread. Your truck is going to be amazing when it is all said and done. It will have the sweetest collection of NOS parts I have ever seen. Keep up the good work and make sure you keep us posted.

Yes, the headliner can be found in near perfect shape. I'll hit up Cheyenne Super man when he comes out to the swap meet near me in January. You never know. Now as far as NOS goes, I may need to do some financing to get all of those items NOS ;)

Re: 1970 Chevy Longhorn Restoration progress
Wow, what an amazing project. I'm currently in the process of restoring a 72 k-10 longbed. It's going to be my daily driver when finished. I was interested in what brand of metal etching primer and gun your using? I myself am getting very close to priming and have sanded down my whole truck to just about bare metal. I see no reason to invent the wheel on the whole prime/etching issue. With all you've done, it seems to make sense to do what you've done. Keep up the great work!!

Re: 1970 Chevy Longhorn Restoration progress
That's a cool score on the filter. Is that going to be shelf art, or do you plan on using it?

Re: 1970 Chevy Longhorn Restoration progress
Are you planning on using the Dupli Color Paint Shop system for the paint? Seems expensive using spray cans to prime the whole truck, easy, but pricey..

Gocha. That makes sense. I like to pick brains when I'm at the same stage of my project. Can't wait to see it painted. Thanks for all the work you've put into the thread, it really is a big help to all of us who are in the restoration process....

Ok, I got the correct expansion valve. The last one I purchased was not correct...it was missing the bottom tube. This one was a bit pricier, but it has to be correct :chevy:

Very cool project. I love all the NOS parts. I have a similar addiction. Maybe not as intense as yours:) I'm subscribing.

Re: 1970 Chevy Longhorn Restoration progress
Do you know any good places to get the 16.5 inch tires if you don't mind my asking? I have 16.5x8.25 on my 69.
Thanks,Marty |

Thanks guys. I have getting some work done. Just not on the truck. I sanded and painted our expected daughter's changing table and crib. She will be here in early May.
I did mangage to restore a bucket seat console just recently. I mainly did it so I'd have some project related to trucks to work on at my house. That's the BIG problem of having my build in my parents garage. I can't hit it for a half hour here, and an hour there. But there are always parts to buy. I always think, "what else is left?" And then something I don't have pops up. Sometimes I wonder if my hobby is the truck, or the parts :uhmk: I even picked up an NOS headlight door for my 65 Plymouth Sport Fury. I am on spring break now, if I can manage to finish The List (you know, the "honey do list) I will get hopping on those last few spots on my bed: I need to fine tune the top rails and hit a few other spots on the inside of the bed. There is only a few hours left of real work on the bed before I need to seal start block sanding. I keep telling myself, I can do it. :mm: Now time to go check that Easter Ham. Have a great Easter! |
