I can't compliment you any more than the other guys already have ... awesome work.

Do you have any more pics of how you mounted the radiator itself? I have a radiator like that and may end up using it.

Thanks again everyone for the comments!

I shot some additional pics of the support yesterday, as I took it apart for paint-prep.
The radiator is simply sandwiched between 4 nylon blocks mounted to the upper & lower mounting plates that fit into the top & bottom radiator channels...2 blocks mounted to each plate.
As you can see in the photos, there was a failed attempt to measure twice & drill once...LOL!

And the money shots!!!
I finally got some more time to paint last night.
I hope that this is a good indication of how the rest of it will look when finished!

I have been working hard on the finish-prep to paint the cab, and we shot the bottom of it last night. We're gonna mask the bottom off tomorrow to protect it from over-spray, then tip it back upright to start cutting in the rest the cab.
I barely did anything to prep the bottom besides the original sanding, then ONE thick coat of epoxy primer, and then scuffed the bottom with scotchbright....it looks really awesome!!!!

We painted the interior today with the exception of the dashboard. we wanted to seal the inside so that there is less risk of getting any dirt in the dash when we do paint it.
I didn't put any clear on the floor, just basecoat. I'm gonna put sound deadener, and carpet on it anyways....Three coats of clear on the rest. I think it looks really great.

I have helped others with their projects, but have never done a resto to this extent for myself....Always a learning process!

Thanks again McMurphy,
No those aren't shoulder mounts...I don't think...They looked like some kind of nylon grommet. The seat that I'm using has an internal restraint system for the shoulder belt, so I didn't pay much attention to them.

I just looked at your thread, and it looks like you are moving right along!
I haven't done much lately but get a new job, a new girl, and struggled through the holidays. I hope to get back to work on it this weekend though!

Hahahahah but seriously dude,
look back at some of the long lost threads that have died....

they die off with key words like,
married
wife
house
pregnant
money

or any combination of the above list, but usually starting off with the wife word.....

I am just saying man..... :waah:

LOL hope you get some progress this weekend (on the build) I hope to get some in on mine starting tonight !!! :metal:

What a build !!

People thought I was mad about 21 years ago when I restored a 1963 VW Beetle and redid the one A-pillar about 6 times and the other 4 times.

If it is right, it is right.

At my age I have no intentions to get re-married or start a family...again.
And as far as the money thing goes, she has a better career going than mine!
I think I'll be O.K....maybe. LOL

Funny, but true!
Last week we were getting ready to paint the door-jambs when I noticed a very minor wave in the outer skins where I had removed the door handles...We then switched-gears, and re-did that area on both doors, and blocked the doors again...for the 4th time. this time I know they are as straight as an arrow!!!

No, not quite McMurphy!
But 1 of my 2 sons is that age! LOL.....What I wouldn't give to be that young again!

Were you thinking that because I'm doing this build at my parents house?
Hell, he's got the room & equipment, and he wanted this truck for himself, only he didn't want to do all of the work, just to leave it to me!!! (His words) LOL
I think he likes being able to sit in a chair and watch, and occasionally shout orders more anyway!!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

Possibly... probably more like you have a youthful outlook and approach to things.
But enough of this male bonding crap, lets get some stuff done on our rigs so we can go back to patting each other on the backs....

....just like the big boys do !!

O.K. then. (LOL)
....So we finally shot the dash, and re-shot the back panel inside the cab.
Photos aren't really that great, but the clear laid out like glass!
I've been spending a lot of time going over everything with a fine-toothed comb, & repairing any imperfections. I've also had some small delays lately on getting things painted. It seems my painter has some other projects that pay a whole lot more than mine! Still moving forward, just not as fast.

Not quite as it would seem Flip....I do all of the crappy prep work, i.e. mask it, wipe it off, tack it down, & clean the guns...My buddy Tommy is still spraying it all. Not that I couldn't, but I don't want to run the risk of running hundreds of dollars worth of product onto the floor. (LOL)
So, we are working around his schedule right now, because he has a life too.

I hear ya man, I sprayed every bit of primer on this rig, and I can paint, but this is what my buddy does for a living!....I don't want to possibly screw it up at this point in the process, I am way more comfortable with his skills.
