I'm dealing on this Burb right now. The seller told me the price and I'm just sorting out getting the money together for it. I found this unexpectidly and figure its pretty decent for the money. I wont disclose the asking price but feel free to give your opinion on its value. Its a small block with a 700R4 and working front and rear air (converted to 134A) and a 700R4. The seller ( in his 70's now) has owned her for the last 25 years. He says he was always gonna restore it but feels with the other 3 or 4 projects he has on the go will never get her done. I've always wanted one of these Burbs and have found some over the years but there was always a "but" when I wanted to buy it. Even now I got to scramble to get the money together but I'm tired of "buts"..The big attraction for me with with this one is the air conditioning and rust free barn doors.

How bout' a Suburban with a...DIESEL!!! Heres mine just recently aqquired. Dad found it as a donor for the engine to use in his 66 SWB truck. Suburban is a 72' 1/2-ton 2wd and was swapped in the 80's by the previous owner with an Isuzu 4cyl. 235 cu.in. Diesel Engine. Makes a Whooping 87BHP and 166 FT-LBS of torque...not as bad as it sounds with a 4spd manual and 4.11 gears to back it up. Anyways, plans include an engine/trans swap, Air-Suspension, and some big shiny wagon wheels for rolling stock. Well, heres a few pics before the surgery begins...
BTW lots o nice Burbans' in here, AND EVEN SOME FROM OREGON!:c2: Just like mine! Kenny |

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
didn't see too many burbs with 2 gas tanks. Was it a rare option or did most people remove the second tank?

I don't know the stats on the gas tanks, I only have the back one. The one where the whole is up by the window has been removed. I'm gonna put the 30 gallon in the back and fill in both holes and move the filler neck to the rear marker light to give it a smoother cleaner look. Like this photo.
|
Re: Let's see some Burbans!
that looks good

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
Cowboy, love the gas filler door!:gi:

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
I sure hope mine turns out that nice, that photo was oridinally posted by one of the other members here. It has been my idea for ever tho. The trick will be welding up the old holes with out warping the quarter panel or causing a bump. I hate to use bondo, I'd rather be beat. I usually use brass and Ditzler rust Killer with lots of primer if necessary but prefer a slick weld and grind and sand with 320 on my DA.

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
And here's the long term goal, a rendering I had done many years ago by Pat Maxwell out of Texas.
Hey Jeff, not sure if you'd ever seen this one or not?? Anyways, hope to make most of this a reality soon. http://daveshulman.com/images/suburban/sublethal.jpg |
Re: Let's see some Burbans!
This thread should be a sticky....

Re: Let's see some Burbans!

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
68 2 H8, is that the Suburban from Ted's Auto Body? I think I recognize those tailights.
|
Re: Let's see some Burbans!
Badbowtie - yes, it was Ted's burb, picked it up from him 2 weeks ago.
98l150 - I'm finally getting back into the custom scene, going to try and wrap up the '04 Supercrew 150 and get going on this burban a bit, will probably not go as far with the burb (roof) this time around, lol. |

Re: Let's see some Burbans!
If you look at my profile, it has my '69 Burb with 4 of the kids. The oldest one is not in the pic. Since this picture was taken, it now has tinted windows, a '78 1/2ton suspension, & the engine removed. Hopefully it soon will have a 383...:metal:
