Looking good!

Re: '68 c10 build
Thanks, it's very slow going now.

Got a couple of days last week to work on the truck. Got a handful of things accomplished. First, we got the hood installed. It fits pretty good, but we will most likely end up cutting the passenger side fender to make it fit the hood a little better at the nose. We ordered new hood hinges and springs to try them before we cut anything though.

Here are the gaps and what I am talking about with the passenger side fender.

I also got a new booster installed. We had initially used an original style one and it was hideous looking. I know this isn't real exciting, but I fab'd up a little mounting bracket which attached to the original hardware on the firewall.

Re: '68 c10 build
Monday I ordered the harness for the truck, and the harness for the ls. I also sent the computer off to get it flashed. Should be running in the next month or so.

Re: '68 c10 build
Are your front fenders aftermarkets ? Mine did the same thing on the front of the passenger side fender

Re: '68 c10 build
Had the same problem on my previous build, I ended up cutting both the fenders and the hood to make it perfect

Re: '68 c10 build
I had same problem with my aftermarket fenders. We cut the spot welds moved fenders in and then re spot welded them.

Re: '68 c10 build
Have you tried loosening the core support and moving it to the drivers side a little. I did this to mine.

Despite it being slow, progress is still progress. I recently managed to spend a few days working on the truck.
My wiring kit came in and I started working on it. The kit I ordered was from American Autowire. This was my first attempt at wiring a vehicle and let's just say I was quite intimidated. Despite that, it was fairly straight forward and went together smoothly. The worst part was cutting the hole in the firewall to fit the fuse box. I wish I had known I was going to have to do this before painting it. I have pretty much everything done from the cab forward minus a few things (AC, Guage Cluster, stereo). |

We recently changed plans on the wing window fiasco and ordered a new set. The passenger side is all in. I had to send the driver's side back because it came all scratched up and still waiting on it.

I also rebuilt the gauge cluster. I think it looks pretty nice. Waiting on a new circuit board and I will install it.

Here are a couple of pics right after I finished wiring the front of the truck. All the lights work. I know one parking light was off in one pic and brighter in another. I was fighting that connection but I got it all fixed now.

Re: '68 c10 build
Doing my American auto wire kit now. Dame issue had to gringo the opening in the firewall after paint so it would fit.

Thanks, man. I ordered the blue houndstooth seat cover yesterday from Brothers. I also went with the "bright blue" carpet. Do you think that is the right combo? I'm planning to run black floor mats and black steering wheel. We left the column black too to tie in with the gauge panel. Hoping it all works. Did you ever finish your seats? |

Love this build! I just picked up a 69 SWB project that has been started, the cab that is painted this color. You guys are doing some really good work, thanks for the build thread!

I got a little done yesterday but didn't take any pics. I finally finished the ds wing window so all the glass is done. I also got the windshield wipers installed.
The following pics are pretty cool I think. They are having a rocker/cab corner party at my dad's shop. The black truck (72 fleet) is my cousins. He trailered it here from Texas. The red truck (72 step) is my nephews. |
Re: '68 c10 build
Brief update: I spent a few hours on the truck last Friday. The truck is fully wired for the most part. I need to finish the tail lights once the bed is on and install and wire the Vintage Air. I also need to install the ls harness. However, I have to say it was exciting to turn the key and hear the fuel pump cycle for the first time though.

Re: '68 c10 build
Last Thursday the shop got the Vintage Air unit installed and wired. My goal in the next week or two is to re-cover the bench seat and get the interior pretty much complete.
