I changed it up a bit, stock 15x6 with 215/75/15 tires up front, 15x8 wheel vintiques series 62 rears with 235/75/15 tires.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Ok so I was originally going to go with a spoke type wheel but I have this vision in my head of all the modern braking upgrades (dual piston calipers up front and 13" drums in the rear) but the old school look. That being said it's a C/20 frame and I'm looking for steelies. The 16" rims I have are split rims that I don't want to keep as not only are they dangerous but they're hitting the calipers up front and 16.5" rims are available but tire prices are way to high for me to even think about. So my question for all you steel wheels guru's is, is there anywhere I can get either a 17x8 wheel with 4 inches of back spacing or a 17x9 with 4.5" of backspacing that's drilled for an 8x6.5 lug pattern? I don't want to go with an 18" as I think that'd be too big for the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Do these count original 17 inch split ring

Stephen717 why do you say splits are dangerous? anything if handled improperly can be dangerous. Millions of miles have and still are traveled on split rims

I say it because mine are completely rusted and I'm Leary about doing anything with them. I don't mind them personally but I don't trust these ones. Plus the fact that they hit the calipers so I'm looking for bigger rims. Also what size tires are those on your gorgeous stepside

Ya hitting the caliper is concerning. The tires are 7.50-17 load range d

Split Rims

They're called "Widow Makers" with very good reason ~ you needn't have any rust on them to have them fail explosively .

There's no way to know when / if they're going to fail and many have died from both the ring cutting their heads off to trucks rolling over at speed when they fail .

Many smoke PCP for years and think it's safe, others are smarter .

"Widow makers "are totally different type of rim. I should have used the correct vernacular. GM used the lock ring type which has three pieces. Widow makers are two piece rims

The two piece rim in the center is a widow maker. Mine are the one to the right of it

Stock steel wheels and bias plies when I got it. Switched to corvette rallys. 15x8's on front and 15x10's in the rear. 235/60r15's on front and 255/60r15's on the rear Cooper Cobra GT Tires.

My bad guys, posted under the wrong year thread... Got excited to show off my steel wheels and wasn't paying attention. Can I delete my post?

Why it looks great. There is no such thing as a wrong year, here I'll throw one in too. My 77

Recently changed over from Rally wheels. In search of proper hubcaps, I think I've tracked down the correct rear caps, now have to find the "open" front caps.

OK ... So I gave up on that idea, I picked up a set of really nice caps and have broken down and bought 15x8 and 15x10 series 62 Wheel Vintiques.

What drop do you have on your truck? Looks similar to mine but I have 15x8 rally wheels. Mine is 3/5 but I was planning on going down to 5/7 and am wondering if it will rub.
