You're lucky you have an alignment guy that cares.
Most shops would have said it can't be aligned and sent you on your way.
And there are many truck owners that just drive them without the getting an alignment.
I see it all the time on here.
Throw on a 3/5 spring drop,... Done.
There's so much more to doing a suspension drop to make them ride and drive good.

Congrats on finding a shop that cares,...

He does care and that is why I took it back for the alignment. Cause he knows I want it right and I will pay so it will be right. But he still won't give me the buddy price lol. His shop is something you see on tv. Crazy what they can do!! But I still don't like them working on it.

Did you use the factory overlay or an aftermarket?

The dash bezel is aftermarket! I sold my factory one to HotRod/C10. That is all hand done to be made to look identical to the original overlay! Guy did amazing job! He built it up like the original is.
The dash pad trim piece is the original.

the truck has come along way since you took it over, usually when you sell something to someone they mess it up somehow with overkill, but you have done a great job brother:metal:

Thank you man I greatly appreciate that! I have done nothing but try and do my truck justice from the day I bought it. Like I told Robert I would treat this truck better than anyone else would. And I feel I have. My truck won't be going anywhere shes a keeper lol.

I've seen it in person and that things a piece of crap! An absolutely beautiful, well put together, highly maintained, excellent running piece of crap that I would kill to own.Matter of fact, you should just give it to me so you dont have to look at that thing in your garage anymore. ;)

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Ended up having to run 2 degrees of negative camber.

lolife99 05-30-2016 03:54 PM

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Isn't that going to cause excessive tire wear?

Not as much as I drive it lol. I put 1000 miles on it last year. I haven't even put 200 on it this year. I will let you know how it wears. I will measure tread depth when I get it back tomorrow then log miles and I will let you know.
But I have seen -2 thru -3 degrees does not cause excessive wear. Actually I have seen even tire wear with those degrees. Toe will wear tires fast than the negative camber.

I do now it will handle the curves better with some negative camber. Handle like on rails!!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

It is a total -1.5 camber.

Tell me more about this. I assume its hydro dipped, and I understand that process very well. I'm curious how he got the gauge bezel smooth? You said it was an aftermarket bezel, but was it woodgrain? I have been chasing a gauge bezel for my 77 for a long time. A variation of what you have done here may be a viable solution.

Hydro Dipped yes. It was aftermarket yes, woodgrain no. let me put some pics up for ya man. It is a great solution for all of us. It cost me a little more but the end result is spot on! He does great work.

A closer look at the dash bezel I bought see the vinyl looking grain when I got it. And after he worked on it smooth as glass.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Now I am not saying use the guy I used but he has done mine and you see the results. He knows what he is doing as he has done 3 pieces for me and I have about 3-4 more for him to do. He can make your dash and any other trim match how you want it. I am not getting anything for this by me posting this but wanted to help all of us out. For some hard to replace parts. Or for parts the aftermarket does not completely make to match things we have on our trucks.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I have plenty of pics and can answer what I asked him which is probably some of the same question you all have or I can just send you to his page and you all can contact him. Nice guy has kids and is a Chevy Guy. He lives around Nashville and does work for people in Nashville like country music tour busses and stuff. Which that does not mean crap to me. Cause I don't t listen to country music all I care about is the end result. And he knocked it out of the park on mine!
