Since the bolts that hold the fenders on will be visible, I picked up some countersunk washers and SS bolts
I also reused the funky washers that IH used..those go under the fenderwells

And the finished product...
I wasnt sure if I was gonna like the black rubber bead showing between the bed and fender, but the more I looked at it, its kinda growing on me...much better than the metal on metal that IH did.....now to do the other side

Greg,
Do I recall you saying you also have a Travel All? Do you need or want this? It was in some stuff I bought today. PM your address if you do and I will send it out.

That's cool Richard! I would think that is a very rare item. Especially in that condition....

Super and looking great! I like the black belting showing against the red. Makes it look that much more 'finished' if you know what I mean.

Thanks fellers..!!!.. I'm feeling good about the welting..
So after a crazy 20+ days in a row of 12hr shifts , I got a day off..
Had to get caught up on a bunch of stuff I'd been putting off..
So got a few minutes of truck time..even if it is 1am..!!!
Theres been one thing bugging me ever since I put the engine in.. axle to oil pan clearance ..
When the engine hit the floor way back when, I had to get another oilpan..
I did a bunch of research and settled on a Corvette oil pan..it looked like it would work..and it did.. but it wasnt giving me enough "comfortable " clearance..the internal baffle system of the vette pan wasnt gonna let me do any notching.... so after more research, I bought a Holley LS pan (302-1) for a chevelle..
It looked like it was gonna work...well it didnt exactly.. so after more pondering, I decided to just notch it and be done with it..
Sure hurts to cut up a new oilpan.. but cut i did..
Made a new corner out of some 1/4" aluminum..suprisingly the Holley pan is also 1/4" thick..
Now to get my hotrod buddy to do a little tig for me and I think this will be good..

That looks good to me Greg. I can't buy anything without grinding or cutting on it. Glad you got a little time in.

Well, I'm up to near 50 days of nonstop work, so truck work hasn't happened..
But I finally did the the notch welded in the oil pan..may dress it up a bit before I install it
rumor is maybe at the end of this month things may slow down a bit.. but I'm not holding out any hope

Nice!
Funny how life works. When you are working like a dog you got extra money to do things but when you got extra time to do things you got no money.

Well hopefully my hectic summer is coming to a end.
Were in another 2 week shutdown, but after that I'll be off most of the rest of the year..
Since this is Columbus day I thought I'd make a mini update..
Not much to show, but ever little bit helps
I swapped out the factory tierod for one of the heavy wall 1-1/4" ORD ones..
much beefier than the 1-1/8" factory unit
But by doing so i lost the tierod end mounting boss for the steering stabilizer
So I just fabbed me one up..
Painted and loosely installed

Also got the oilpan installed..
The notch gave me over 3" of clearance at ride height..I feel better about that now

Still doing small things..
This has been bothering me for some time..
When I made the cab corner ,there was about a 1/16" gap between it and the rocker..
I was gonna just live with it, but after looking at the drivers side I realized the two were spot welded together
I couldnt squeeze them together without putting alot of stress on the metal..
So I cut some slits in the corner ,and drilled some hole for spot welds.
Got it welded up..gonna brush some epoxy on it ..do a ittle filler work, then I'll spray epoxy on it..
Got the rear bumper ready to go to the blasters, so I'll try and spray it all at once.
I've found a couple of spots on the rockers and the back of the cab that got missed when I sprayed epoxy the last time that need coated again.. hopefully the cab will be ready to paint in a week or so
