Re: New to me 1972 K5
I have seen that truck before. I liked the white and this helped me decide. I want to do the interior black with white dash and door panel inserts. My glove box door will be black like the gauge bezel. My gauges are red and I'll have a few red accents through out the truck.

Thanks guys... It scheduled to be dropped off at the Line-X dealer on Friday... They want it for about 2 weeks... In the mean time, the frame will be blasted, painted and start on assembly....

Re: New to me 1972 K5
Hey Rich,
I'm excited to see the updates! I've been researching the LineX and I'm a big fan. IMO nothing says off-road utility vehicle more than a durable interior & exterior coating. Use it, abuse it, & hose it off when your done! As part of my research I actually called the guys from Starwood Motors in Dallas to ask them about their "kevlar coating" They advertise the entire exterior of their Jeeps & other vehicles have been professionally coated with Premium Protective Coating w/Kevlar Fiber (4700 PSI tensile strength, which is over 200% strength of other brands), making it impervious to the elements. They slap a lift kit, wheels & tires, & their kevlar coating on a new Jeep and sell them for anywhere from 30k to 105k!!! I suspect they are working with a LineX dealer in Dallas and marketing it as their own coating. The salesman I spoke with said it was a proprietary product they developed to make their Jeeps unique..... but I could send my vehicle to them and they would coat if for about 5-6k! I'm hoping I can find a local guy around Nashville that is willing to do it and do it for less. What was your experience like. Does the LineX dealer you are working with do a lot of complete vehicles in Vegas? |

The underside was coated last week but due to technical difficulties, the inside was only coated today... the rest should be white by Wednesday and more pics this weekend... PS: The dash is taped off... it will be white...

Re: New to me 1972 K5
Hey mcmlxix are you going to use the front denali seats still or did i read somewhere that you are changing to cloth seats? If you are going to use the leather denali front seats how are you going to adapt the seats to lean far enough forward for passengers to get into the back. Thanks

Plus i would think if you are haulin people, the top will be off and you'll be cuising or wheelin. they can hop in over the tailgate... that was my plan for the rear seat in my M715 if i ever get there.

Re: New to me 1972 K5
Door panels are assembled... Black and white Line-X on the panel and insert, Flag red powdercoat on the trim... just need a pair of arm rests....

Those look awesome. Do you foresee any issues with the Line-x staying on the plastic? I might have to look into doing that on mine. |
