Just found this picture of the original dash.

Attachment 1834331

There was an start push, cigarette lighter, toggle switch for something and a pull switch which Im not sure what it was for but Id guess lights.

Ive replaced that entire section now anyway and it doesn't need to be original, wont be original for that matter but at least I know now what it should have.

A question guy's, who do you all use for parts?

To date Ive used both LMC and Classic Parts but frankly Ive found their service and quality to be poor.

Are there any other suppliers you would recommend? I don't have a great deal to buy now but what I do still need Id like to only buy once and not have to return it.

Hi Bill,

It difficult when you have to purchase stuff online and can't pop into the shop.

The only one i haven't used is Brothers? don't know about service and quality maybe someone else can chip in.

Depends on what you need i guess but I've had good service through Classic Parts - cpp - summit and rock auto

infact just placed a summit order this evening ;)

Re: Super Duper Haggis Hauler II - The Resurrection

Hi H,

Summit are great but don't necessarily have what I need this time. I'm working on another order for them at the moment for other parts.

Ive used Rock Auto for parts for my C3 but Ive checked and they don't have all what I need this time.

I ditched CPP 3 years ago when they wouldnt quote me for about $6000 worth of parts. I ended up using POL and al I'll say is they should change their name to POS!

Ive used Classic Parts but Ive been trying to get them to provide me some advise on what I need to order for a week now but no reply.

LMC's support is usually OK but the quality of their parts is hit or miss. Ive a problem with a headlight switch that they sent me and eventually the sent me a 2nd but its no better than the first so I guess its the rod on the actuator that's the actual problem.

I have used Ecklers in the past but unless I absolutely have to I wont use them again. They were brilliant up to the point where I paid them, then their service turned to crap!

Maybe its just me!

It didn't take as long as the passenger door to prepare but that's the drivers ready for some colour. Hopefully this weekend will at least see the inside in Old English while and maybe some clear.

Cheers gents. My goal is to have it on the road this time next year. That may be a tall order but as long as nothing else happens like happened this time last year its doable I think.

Tonight saw the inside of the doors in what I hoped would be the last coat of primer but I noticed a couple of flaws so it will need a little more work on Saturday before painting.

That's the inside of the door painted and cleared. Next up the outside, though I am out of paint, so it will likely be the weekend before I get that started.

Attachment 1837723

Also got the bed supports painted/stone chipped and the transmission tunnel cut for the 4 speed shifter.

Still to be sanded and polished etc.

So drivers door flattened and hung. Had to flat it back quite hard as my electric heater self destructed overnight and we shards of black soot landed on the door. Oh that was OK and they wiped off but when I put the last coat of clear on the remainder fell from the roof joists and landed in the now wet clear coat! - DOH!!!

Drivers fender ready for painting, more or less

First bed panel getting the first fill of mud trying to smooth out the pressing crinkles. Hope to have the bed on by end of Jan, well maybe not with the wood but the sides and front at least.

And finally, saving the best till last, I picked up my latest purchase today. By where chance while my wife and I were away for a wee weekend break last weekend I spotted a add on Facebook for a C10 seat. Turned out it was less than 40 miles away. Cost £275 or about $350. Its in great condition save one cut on the side but I'll be getting it recovered anyway. Cant believe I found one in Scotland when I couldn't get one from the US. Much better than that Daimler thing I bought and MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than a new LMC seat, which I had been considering. Christmas came early, talking of that I need to get an order placed with Summit!

Does that seat bolt to the floor using the factory mounting holes?

Not sure yet. Just put it in there last night to keep it out of the way. Will be checking today hopefully. Not fussed if it doesn't as I think Id like to raise it a little anyway so I will probably add some box section or similar to do that.

I checked over the weekend John and it looks like it should line up with the original holes but its sitting on the transmission tunnel so it will need to be raised to clear that anyway.

Finally, that's my exhaust complete (well save some clamps and hangers - I don't really plan keeping the axle stands and rope!).

Its much quieter now, thankfully. It may not be quiet enough yet for our MOT but hopefully it will squeeze past. In fact there is more noise now from the engine bay than from the exhaust.

That’s looks great Bill much neater than mine, break lines look good too, it’s details like that that make all difference. Where do you shocks mount ?

Thanks Ian. Im pleased with the way it came out. much better than what I originally planned. Like I said its still a little loud but with the right MOT tester it should pass (If, of course, I bother with am MOT. It is over 40 now so its not actually necessary). I think the exhaust is actually quieter than the Vette, its the engine bay where most of the noise comes from now.

As for the shocks, this is the best picture I can find of the upper mount which is on the outside of the frame.

Attachment 1846963

I seem to remember its different on later models like yours but I cant quite remember how.

So, I thought Id try and finish on a high for the year, well mostly.

So Ive been off since the 21st and don't go back t ill the 7th. Ive now got the drivers door fully installed, les the external handle (and some paint repair because fitting that vent window was a pain in the arse/ass).

One bed side is now painted and the 2nd in progress as is the bed front. Plus the rear cross member is loosely fitted. Oh and I did start flattening and polishing the rear of the cab. The sharp eyed amongst you may see the errors! (Sorry I just cant get the picture to rotate correctly)

On the negative, I came across the LED rear indicators (amber in the UK and red blinker in the US) that I bought oh 18 months ago, while looking for something else. They are the ones that fit in the roll on the rear of the bed sides. Well guess what, they don't fit. They don't even come close. The roll is far to small on one and not round on the other. I wont bin then, at $150 I will make use of them. Probably try and French them into the rear bumper.

Anyway, guy's have a great night tonight and all the best for 2019.
