Crossmember needs replacing
The truck and its parts donor are still at the body shop, and the donor's cab corners, door bottoms, inner rocker panels, and outer rocker panels have been replaced with good Key Parts prefabs (pictures coming soon).
When I bought this truck I noticed that the center cross member was so rusted that it was more air than metal. I need to replace it, and I found someone with a 72 3/4 ton frame with one on it. Will a 72 3/4 ton center crossmember work on a 67 1 ton? Or is there any difference in the two that I should be aware of? |
Re: My new project truck!
How did you find those NOS arm rests at a dealership? The dealerships near me won't even try to pull up old part numbers they just say to call LMC.

I do not allow lazy parts department employees to tell me that they are not going to look up or search for a part. This is their job that they signed up to do and that they are paid for. Whenever they have ever tried this I make them look it up anyway. |

I am SO glad that I finally gave up on the old one, and that I have such a good friend (you listening out there Danny?) who found this parts truck for me so close to me in my state. |

***Latest update***
The old swiss cheese GMC cab has been removed from the rolling frame, and replaced with the parts-donor 67 GMC cab. For some reason the bed has always been too close to the cab, and it seems worse now with the cab replacement. The bed is coming off next to try to figure out how to best correct this annoying issue.

Possible seats for project
Someone gave me these comfortable bucket seats today. I am seriously considering using them in my 67 GMC 3500. It now appears that I will also be reconsidering my decision NOT to install an external gas tank in it. I cannot fgure out what these originally came out of, but they have electrical adjustment devices inside them.

Re: My new project truck!
Do the armrests go up? If so, and you reversed them, so the armrests were in the middle, they would meet each other. Maybe over a center console?
