Well how is life in Oregon now after thanksgiving.

I love this build. I am thinking of one similar but doing a full custom chassis that has a modern ifs similar to a raptor.

Life in Oregon is quite nice!!!

That should be a cool build. When you are at SEMA its the different things that are popular. Use a Raptor motor while your at it!

Re: Project 70 Yellow Turd

Hey Mike! Unfortunately, I do not have any rear seats laying around. I do have a front bench seat frame but that's about it.

We have been consistently about 3 weeks out on the Collision Repair end of our business so the Suburban was moved over to another wing of our building where it can sit and not get covered in dust. I have acquired quite the pile of cool parts for this thing lately. Ring Brothers hood hinges, Entropy Radiator, Restomod Haymaker AC system with custom vents, Smoothie front bumper and I'm sure I am missing something because the shelves are full of boxes. The motor is being pulled next week to go over to a friends motor shop. He is going to break it in and Dyno it. That should be fun! The plan is to have this completed by summer so we can make the show circuit. SEMA 2016 is also on the list. We already have a 47 Ford COE hot rod pizza truck that is on its way there so we might as well take the Suburban as well. We shall see!!!!!

Update on progress...um pretty much where it was :-( But, I do believe we are back on track. We have been working on some huge projects here at our shop and they are finally to a point where I can possibly work on my own stuff. Bought a new house with a custom 2 level barn/shop so the burb now has a proper home :-) Here are a few pics of one our latest project that had been taking all of our time. Its a 1947 Ford COE custom hot rod pizza truck!!!!! Not too many people can say they helped build one of those! Our portion on this build is body work and paint. The talented Mr Chris Chapman of Chapman Enterprises is doing all of the fab work. It really is a work of art. The other truck that is almost gone is a 1959 Chevy Apache. More pics to come on that one.

Re: Project 70 Yellow Turd

If you can believe it, we are back on this project! Its been an absolutely crazy busy winter on our collision repair side but I NEEEEEED this truck to get done so...I just pulled the trigger to get this back over into production. I purchased a Brothers Truck smooth front bumper and I am now wishing I would have just fabbed one myself! This thing was waaaaay off. I V cut the center of the bumper and am in the process of moving it it to fit. So many wavy spots and its not symmetrical...yet :-) I also bought a Fessler flush mount windshield which is just too cool. All glass is going to be flush mounted without weatherstrips. We are going to finish the front bumper tomorrow and send the unpainted parts over to paint. I will update progress tomorrow. I have big changes on the list for the interior for next week. Dash is getting a complete makeover.

Well, 2 steps forward and 10 steps back! Took the motor out today to send to the Dyno. This required the removal of the entire front end so...why not make a bunch of changes! Front suspension is being removed in favor of a Rydeman Ranch front crossmember with custom control arms and coil overs. Rear is being switched out to Rydemans trailing arms. Fesler windshield has a low spot on the top so I am waiting for them to figure out what they are going to do. It was super obvious when we pre-fit the windshield that it wasn't going to work.

This is a cool rig! I think a lot of us here on this board know how it goes with other projects getting in the way, and then having to go backward on your progress!

Re: Project 70 Yellow Turd

Well...another set back today. The guy that was going to Dyno my motor looked it all over and apparently the motor is not what it was billed as when I bought it. Cam was supposed to be a hydraulic roller...and is not. There are a few more little things on it that just kind of put a little black cloud over my truck :-) Moral of the story is don't trust people on Craigslist that drop names of so and so who built this motor for 500 HP. So...I either have him tear it back down and do it right or just start back over with an LS. I do have a 6.0 with 100,000 miles on it sitting in the shop that I was going to use in my sons 63 Nova Wagon but the thought of starting back over on accessorizing a motor kind of scares the hell out of my wallet. Hmmm....

Man, that blows. If I lived closer, I would buy that 396 from you.

It does look pretty!!!!!! In the current set up it will probably put out 300 to 325 horses which is respectable but not what I was wanting. I knew I should have had it torn down and gone through but I was too busy building the rest of the truck to concern myself with it. I don't know. I guess I will sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

Re: Project 70 Yellow Turd

I'm picking my 396 up on Saturday.

My dad has a high school buddy that picked up one about 5yrs ago he got out of a Chevelle. We ran the numbers, and it's a hi-po, and he finally decided to let it go. Can wait to get it. Kind of excited.
