Hey Chad, look foward to meeting you in a couple weeks.

We looked at those same hubcaps but they require 1/2" studs where we have 7/16"...didn't feel like swapping studs at the time, but they do look better than the original 4x4 ralley caps. We'd like to see somebody step up and manufacture some nice, inexpensive spider caps for the six lugs.

ya, thats why i bought a set of these :http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-16-OEM-Fac...e00a06&vxp=mtr

We also started fitting the motor/tranny to the chassis. We're using 73-87 C20/30 mounts and the stock tranny crossmember...gonna have to cut some decent reliefs in the firewall to fit those valve covers

My son got a bit carried away with "rolling the floor mat back" to accomodate relief cutting the fire wall.
He found a layer of ceiling tile nicely cut and fit between the tar mat and the floormat...guess the old owner wanted more insulation??:uhmk:

Also looks like I'll have a little more sheet metal practice on the floor...

Thanks!!

Tonight's progress...got the firewall somewhat clearanced for the valve covers, got at least 1/2" around everything on the first cut. :metal:
We'll open that up a bit as we finish/smooth it out.
Also picked up a wheel/horn for the column...the light silver will make more sense once everything is finished.;)

Long water pump and compressor in front of the heads dictates that I push the motor as far back as possible, in addition there is a small upturn on the pass side top rail right in front of where the motor mount tower falls into place...it all just comes together there. The large valve covers may give the appearance that the motor is farther back than it really is, the large cap hei still has a 1/2" clearance to the firewall...we considered notching the firewall there also to push back even farther. As it sits, we have less room between fan and rad than we would like to see...gonna have to get creative there.

maybe you need to go with an electric fan..but looks like you are tight on space too
