I won't lie, it sucked, but mostly because I was by myself, trying to get the rivets out laying on my back. If you have a really good air chisel, it shouldn't be as bad. And I had to pull mine as the PO had welded that angle iron piece in for the carrier bearing. And by pulling it, I was able to get it all cleaned up and now I can flip it which will help with the pinion angle and also to give me more play for the driveline.

Ok, so some grinding, clean up and a coat of paint. Trailing arm cross member ready to go back in.

Finished up the back of the cab, for the most part. I have a couple of small spots to address.

"flip it" do tell...I thought moving the trailing arm mounts was the hidden secret. Did you pull the whole enchilada to clean it up and paint it vs. flipping the brackets?

This picture is about the best way to really show. The clearance from the frame to the top of the driveline opening is about .5 inches stock. As seen in in this picture.

Close up.

Now the bottom side, stock has more clearance for the driveline. About 2 inches.

So, I pulled the entire crossmember, first to pull out that angle iron that the PO welded in. And since I now have it out, I can bolt it back in, upside down if you will. This will give me more driveline clearance on the top side of the crossmember. And since I have dropped the rear end four inches, it should be better for driveline clearance. Make sense?? If it doesn't work out, I can flip it back over without much work.

So I have been working a ton, and saving some money so I could get a new rear end as mine will not work. So I called Moser today, and they told me that they couldn't make a rear end that would work with my disc brakes. I called a local company, pretty much the same thing. So I was pretty bummed out.

I happened to check out craigslist today..... JACKPOT!!!!

12 Bolt, trailing arm suspension and 30 Spline!!!
