No prgress latley just been taking care of some side jobs but this weekend I am going to work on it. I have to fill the holes in the firewall and I am going to take off the hood and inner fenders to clean them and see what I have. I just got my computer back from service I had a virus that shut it down but luckily I cought it soon enough it was able to be pulled out and didnt effect anything. I guess I need to get an external harddrive to save all my pics of my build.... I just got more mud yesterday so now I can start slinging mud on the bed SOON..

Re: MY build thread...

Block sanding SUCKS. I decided to get ahead of the game and block what I had primed already with 320. Got part of the hood, drivers door, drivers cab pillar and back of the cab done. I hate sanding but it will be worth it once I spray some base. Also got most of the un-needed holes in the firewall welded up.

Thanks Alan and Jason65. Here are a few more pics I just got done. Cowl panel gaps are good door to cowl and cowl to cab. You know when I started with the gap thing I knew I was going to be opening a can of worms... Another thing I'm finding out these trucks werent very straight from the factory.

Re: MY build thread...

OK guys I have a question, I started blocking the rest of the hood tonight and there are some spots that have small dents I missed in the body filler process maybe the size of a quarter and I cant block out. My question is do I or can I put a small amount of filler in them after scratching up with 80 grit on top of the euro primer without having problems or do I need to go clear down to bare metal? There not very deep but I'm affraid I cant get them gone with primer and I cant get to the back side to beat them out. What to do? I'm getting close I ordered some satin black for when its done until I can afford to buy my paint.

I'm not familiar with euro primer, but I've never had a problem scuffing the primer and wiping the dent. On small stuff like that I like to use Evercoat 416 metal glaze or something comparable. If I remember you bought some, right?

Re: MY build thread...

I dont have any yet all I have is rage filler now and mar-hyde urethane primer. I need to get some glaze for some small spots but that will have to wait till after this weekend have to make some money...Thanks ALAN I really didnt want to go down that far again even in a spot or two. Well thats on the game plan for tomarrow then.

Ordered some stuff to continue I got 80,180,320 long board paper, more filler and another gallon of filler for the bed. Also ordered new quarter panel for bed and lower fender patch for the front and in the next week or two going to get a fender from lilred66. Wow money comes and goes FAST. Also got the finish coat in until I can afford to buy my paint.....SATIN black baby. Pics when it all comes in now time to go work filling holes under hood.

Nice work. I'm thinking about reenginnering the drain hole on the reinforcement to allow better drainage. Just a thought.

I thought about doing just that but I just want to get it hung right now I will still have to take it off to epoxy the backside later.

Re: MY build thread...

on the lower front fender drain area it is just a super tiny small little hole in the back of the lower fender brace, thats why all of these trucks rust so commonly in this area.i did a truck back in 94 and put on new gm fenders and before i installed them i drilled a new drain hole in the bottom of the lower fender so water, dirt and crud could drain out.be careful on aiming your drill bit though, you don't want to drill through the outer skin.i used and drove the truck and when i washed it i always shot water into the inside of the lower rear fender and when i finally sold the truck it still did not have any built up crud packed into the fenders.these were a poorly engineered drain on the front fenders that always allowed for dirt, salt, crud, mud to build up in this area.also the same can be said for the front of the inner front fenders, and many other areas of these trucks.your project is coming along nicely.keep up the good work.

Re: MY build thread...

I've thought about drilling a hole straight up into the pocket but this truck wont be drove in bad weather at all and so I'm not too worried about buildup but I am probably going to do it anyway.

Well got more done tonight,I put the first coat of filler on the fenderpatch because its kind of dinged up so did that and got the steering column out for the tilt and slung some on the spots I welded on the firewall. Pics tomarrow.

Well havent touched anything in a few weeks cause my wifes grandmother has been in the hospital after a heart attack then tripple bypass. I did get some parts in Tilt column, drivers front fender, duel pot master cylinder and this weekend going to try to get the hood and doors off so I can shoot the whole truck one more time with primer reduced so it lays smoother. Pics soon
