Shannon, your panel looks so BIT##IN, the stance, wheel/tire combo, everything just looks right, glad your driving it now, enjoy. Sorry about the show, I even feel bad about it, just have to keep the good memories in my head. Keep us updated on the panel....Jim

hotrod1, oldman3, skymangs, FRENCHBLUE72, Thank you all.

Well I got it inspected today. My buddy was on my a$$, I heard does it have flat tires and it can not run over a coke can. Yes it is too low. I am getting factory spindles from him so the front will go up 2 inches and I am going to put air shocks on the rear because the panel is a little heavier than the malibu. Which will bring it up a little. I want to bag it down the road. The money tree lost all its leaves! I put the tip on in the back but it vibrates and needs a tube put in the back center so hopefully that will go away then. So after all the fixes I need to get the front aligned after that so it does not wear the front tires. So I can finally drive it and that it will get.

If you're looking for it to sit higher, how about some taller tires? I know it's probably not the cheapest solution, but might save a rim from being bent now that you'll be driving it.

Looks great outside the garage BTW!

hell yah congrats on the inspection. so how long has it been working on and off it to get to this point? such a relief, now all the things you have to get to wont stress you out as much, you kind of get to them here and there when you got time. ahhhhh so sick. LOL on the blindspots, heck I have to stick my head out my 51' half the time, better safe than sorry.

wayne4252004, Thank you.

oldman3, I will post more pictures when I raise it up. Then the damn tires will not rub.

BlueJeep, the taller tire will not help because the tires rub when I turn the whole way. So by putting the stock spindles it should not rub. And yes it is great that it is out of the garage.

99 to Life, I have had it for 15 year I think but I did not work on it for maybe 10 of them but just a little here and there. And the past couple years I maybe would work on it 2 months year, when ever i can fit in some time. That little peep mirror is a joke. I too manage to stick my head out most of the time.

Now that it is inspected I find myself driving it a lot. My kids love riding in it and talk about everyone looking at it when I drive it. Hope I can deal with changing the spindles this week and not motoring around in it. I did take the front bumper off for now because it drug too much. The tires rub the fender lips when turning hard so I have to do the spindles this week.

I started on the panels lift kit tonight. I got from a buddy, a S10 clip so that I could rob the spindles from it. I wire wheeled them, primed them and painted them black that way I can change them out on Thursday night. I also ordered a set of air shocks tonight too and will pick them up on Thursday also. There is a car show on Friday night that I would like to go to. So hopefully we can make it if it does not rain.

Here is the difference in height now that it sits higher. I brought it up about 2 inches all the way around. It made a world of difference in driving it. The wheels do not scrape the fenders anymore. I wish I could get the front down about an inch though. I still have to put the bumper back on so I will see how it is after that. I may cut half a coil off and see what that does. It is at its new home now ( at my buddies garage) because I can get to it quicker than getting it out of the trailer. I also got the 48 truck back so I will be posting on it again. I have been driving it a good bit though.

Re: 48 panel truck

congrats man, doesn't seem all that different. I think on a truck it is more noticeable. I bet it feel good to be driving it around.

Looks good to me...It's no good if it's low but you can't drive it anywhere without the fear of ripping something off...

Nice work

G'day Mate,

You just be careful driving around at that altitude. The oxygen can get pretty thin when your up so high and I'd just hate it if you passed out and crashed! Lol.

Just kidding Shannon, it is looking fantastic, and as you've built it to use it, you may as well make it driver friendly. Great job mate, glad to see she's up and Rollin!!!

oldman3, 99 to Life, youngrodder, AUSSIE54, Kabwe, Thank you. It did make a world of difference being raised. I want to try and bolt the bumper on and see how it looks with it on. It was really low with it on and scraped big time. So I took it off till I got it raised.

I have my panel at a buddies house and this is what he did to it. He took a ford emblem and stuck it on the back and took a picture of it and is now teasing me about it. Who need enemies when you have friends like that! I told him I was going to get a pink sticker made up that said built ford tuff with chevy stuff and stick it on his truck. He has my 1940 ford truck and of course it is chevy powered. He did not think I was funny.

I have not got anything done on it for a while. We were so busy at work. Last week in 4 1/2 days I had 60 hrs not counting the holiday. I did put the bumper back on it now. The bumper is 6" off the ground and the running boards are around 7". I am hoping to drive it this weekend. I am having a problem with the gas gauge. I checked the grounds and they are fine so I have to pull the sending unit and check to see if it is stuck.

panel is looking crisp. yeah gotta love the ford guys that run sbc's in their rides, I find that quite amusing and sick at the same time.

99 to Life, Thank you. It was my truck and I was the one the put the chevy motor in it. Parts are so much cheater and more plentyfull. Plus you can have a older motor and put a newer ones parts in it mosty, unlike a ford were they changed things all the time!

Re: 48 panel truck

yeah I hear you. I def understand why people would do it. I guess there is just soo much ford/chevy drama it is a heavy debate. You wouldn't see people getting to hot an bothered over other swaps I'm sure. anyway, funny I never seen a ford small block in a chevy LOL.

Re: 48 panel truck

99 to Life. I know a guy that put a 460 ford big block in a corvette. The covette people went nuts. He even took it to the all ford nationals. They said you can not bring that in and he told them it was ford powered and then they let him in. That is something you just do not see!
