I will snap a pic this aft 4 u. used a gm pedal assy cut up and tweaked a bit.

Stock dodge cable. Its a bit long tho. makes the pedal a bit stiff. May try to shorten . or maby just try a nice new cable .

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

If it works for you, on that 89 Burb I did, I was able to retain the stock throttle cable. I just had to drill the hole a little bigger to slide over the dodge pivot ball. I then used a clip and end from another ford throttle cable I had to pop on the ball to retain the cable in place. Works great.

The cool part of you truck build is when it drives by when your done, people will never expect the sound of a diesel should screw with a few heads, be like ..what..is that a diesel, no way...cool. Keep the work going, cool build for sure, lot to fab and modify that is why I appreciate it so much, a real build.

That's true, most people in general don't really understand, some do but I get the 235 6cyl thing, haha.

What did you come up with for the trans mount?

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

6BT you need the 29 spline coupler specific to the getrag/205 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Cummin...30858207866%26 http://www.enterpriseengine.com/shop...apter-coupler/ http://www.quad4x4.com/cgi-bin/comme...cton&key=10528 http://www.ebay.com/itm/np-205-np205...59218e&vxp=mtr

I would check the web for some feedback before ordering one. I hope this helps!

Hi Ryan. In the name of simplicity I think im going to re use the dodge crossmember and use the orriginal style mounts.. Cheap And i was able to get them quickly, due to the configuration of the frame being so straight Im going to have to fab up some drop brackets but thats no biggie. I may make a mount for some trac bars off the drop bracket while im at it .

Thanks for the links . Now i really confused

Is the Gertag the same spline as the NV 4500? I wouldent have thought so ?

Most of those links seem to give you that inpression tho.

Hummmm.... now what . i guess I gave to hit the web to see whats up .

Thanks again for the links .

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Yes all the 4x4 dodge manuals are 29 spline and will all bolt up to your 205 (not sure about the G56) but I was thinking that coupler only came with the 360/205.

Be careful, some NV4500's behind 318's and 360's are 23 spline.

Yeah your right, I should have said diesels. Do you know what the V10s had?

pretty sure all the diesel and v10 trans are the same. they were the "HD" units.

That's what I thought, they both have the bigger input shafts on the nv4500s also.

Yes, they have 1 1/4" inputs. But the bigger inputs are 1 3/8" when you go big. That is the same size as the NV5600 and G56 too.

So lots of progress in the last few weeks . It's up and running now. a few things still to do. the rad is shot. Just used it to make sure everything was going to work. I let it run in the shop for a few hrs tonite . got up to 195. still needs a fan as well. The t case shifter has to be moved up abt 6 inches too. looking forward to a test run if it ever stos raining.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Any one know what k&n filter fits on the front of the stock turbo. I see lots of trucks with a nice stubby one that fits quite well.

1985-GMC 04-10-2013 12:22 AM

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Don't go with K&N, just about any filter other than that should be fine just not K&N.

I hear that it takes a big filter to provide air for these things. I have seen stubby filters sucked in on themselves.

If you get a couple 90s or a big U you could run a BHAF, or you could just get a stock 2nd Gen intake pipe and do the same thing. I don't think the 1st Gen pipe is long enough.

Well tonite was the fitst drive. It's noisey , rattles , no cup holders and it rides and handles like a hay wagon. Yep love it. It needs a few tie rod ends and the drag link is ng. I knew abt this tho. Was wating on the draglink till i got it figured out what I wanted to do. Going to do a link using gm ends like Ryan did on the V rig. This should take care of the haywagon handiling . Still need a air filter. Make a new mount for the T/c shifter, move it up abt 6inches.

Im also thinking Im going to have to make up some kind of track bars. This truck has only got 1/2 ton springs in the rear. That combined with a 4inch block for the rear lift and a lot more torque on tap and it tends to waunder around a bit in the rear when you stomp on it or decellerate quickly. Some bars should help eliminate the axle wrap and keep me going in a straight line.

Any one built any before ? Any pics ? Ryan I'm sure you can contribute;)
