The weather wasn't that great today; high 50s, grey skies, and some rain drops here and there most of the day. :(

Not a fan of the 24's on that truck, just to much IMHO. It is a beautiful truck though.

If it was lay'd out on those 24's it would look better.
Personally I'd rather have a 10" wide wheel in the back.

Re: Project: Shiro

Agreed, when wheels are that big they really need to tuck deeply to look right. Still an awesome truck though, I would be happy to own it.

Just stumbled on to this build. Being that I have an ongoing father/son build with my 16 year old, I like to watch the other father/son builds. I like you plan for this one and will be watching...

Nah, just driving it a bit. The Porterbuilt parts won't be here until around the middle of March so I am waiting patiently.

Okay, I finally bit the bullet and started really looking at the truck today. Wanted to get a list of body parts that need attention as well as the wiring (noticed so strange stuff). So, let's do a couple posts with pics of what I found starting in the drivers door area. The drivers door has rust through on the forward end where it contacts the seal, and the lip that holds the seal is completely gone in that area. Not sure if I can weld in a new lip or if it will take a whole rocker. Just above the forward end of the rocker, in the door jam, there is a small (less than a dime) rust hole. And finally, you can see the cab corner is pretty well rotted out. :(

The passenger side cab corner has also fallen victim to rust. The kick panel on the passenger side also has some rust through. :( The vent on this side is also missing the control lever, anyone have this stuff laying around??

Under the hood I found a few of the usual suspects. The core support and the inner fender on the passenger side are rusted under the battery and will need to be replaced. The grill will also need to be replaced as the outer and inner portions are in pretty bad shape.

It's funny... with all those body parts that need attention this is the part that bugs me the most. I had hoped to install a factory stereo but that is not going to be possible. I guess I'll order one of the billet escutcheons the vendors sell and install a single din stereo... :cuss:

Almost forgot the weird snaps surrounding the back glass, I'm guessing it must have been for some kind of sun screen. These will have to be welded up...

My guess is those are probably from a camper boot that passed through the rear window.

Now that makes perfect sense, it did have a camper at one time.
