My Aunt lives in that Area.
I always get some Brisket and BBQ the times that I have visited.
It is Great.

Lissa and I just had a toast with a shot of Tequila and pickle juice chaser. The toast was " hers to Gerhard, may his adventure be enjoyable".

That's funny. I survived the visit with GerhardH ! That was fun, and we talked and talked and talked. Yes, he's taking trains, busses and rental cars and going across the USA.

It was a great visit. We went for a drive in my rusty old 69 CST/10 pickup and opened the hood and talked about our trucks until late at night.

Gerhard now knows Texas cuisine, because I smoked a brisket, Minion method smoking with wood and charcoal, on the pit starting Saturday night at 10pm and it was ready for supper at 6pm Sunday, 20 hours at 220 F. Then breakfast tacos with Picante sauce for breakfast this morning. He is now on his way to Harlingen TX.

So than especially for you Grumpy 0ld man I rent a car for my trip to Harlingen and return. Okay the reason was I could not find a connection and add. I underestimated the distances.

Finally I reached my old fellow botmfedr1 a good-hearted soul. Different truck ,different man, different BBQ, but awesome.

He was however a great person! He’s welcome to Harlingen anytime!!

As for that ridiculous comment by Grumpy Old Man... well all I can say is- he hasn’t lived!
In my 23 year military career, I have literally traveled around the world and visited 27 countries... lots of people travel by bus, trains, tuk tuk, and anything else with wheels or an oar.
IMHO- traveling how he is, is the only way to get the true experience.
